I was thinking that if that thing popped out, you might well try to push it back in and hope for a different result on the return.

I don't understand what the big deal was about this movie. I saw it and thought it sucked. It was poorly acted, had a stupid script, and (to put it kindly) the kid was no Haley Joel Osment. As far as I'm concerned, they took an interesting plot concept and botched it (although I recognize that this is a minority viewpoint). The cinematography was interesting, but that's about it.

Well, that and being trapped in a well with the not-quite-dead corpse of a drowned girl.

Apparently you avoided the ravine. Some guy flashed* me there when I was about 15 and on crutches (yes, not smart to be walking through the ravine on crutches). It was actually kind of comical. I didn't really realize what he was doing (I was not wearing glasses) and when I did, I just started laughing. He got all annoyed and ran off.

He got caught and I had to testify against him. That was creepy - him sitting across from me in the courtroom and I had to say my name and where I lived (this was boarding school days).

*and by flashing I mean took off his coat completely and sort of stood there in all his glory from the waist down. Freak.

Speaking of cell phones..

who is planning on changing services when they let us bring our numbers with us in November?

I have a Samsung phone from Sprint, and it sucks. I don't know if it's Sprint or the phone, but I can't move at all for fear of dropping the signal. I've taken the phone in three times to be fixed, and they tell me that I shouldn't have any problems at all with it. Which makes me think it's the Sprint service. I'm thinking that as soon as possible, I'm heading over to Verizon.

With an attitude like that, who cares whether its the phone or the service? I dropped sprint when they were similarly unsupportive about a samsung phone. they could have sent me a gold-plated one to replace it and I still would have switched.

hmm... I was considering switching to Sprint. Am with AT&T right now and their signal completely sucks in certain parts of town. A friend who lives in that part of town tested out all the competitors in his house and found that Sprint is the only one that gets him service in his house. BUt if Sprint sucks, that is something to consider. I sorta thought they had better phone selections than AT&T does (nota Nokia person), but maybe I'm wrong.

It's probably Sprint's service where you are. I have a Samsung phone from Sprint (in NY) and it works really well.

I've heard good things about Verizon, but every time I get ready to quit Sprint, they go and give me 75 or 100 bucks towards a new phone. So far, they've had models I wanted to buy and the service has been ok. Which doesn't mean I won't switch if the price, phone and service are right. I hear Verizon is great.

AT&T is in a transitional suckage stage. It's really two companies, one on GSM (the new system) and one on TDMA (the old). They're putting all their money into the GSM system, but keep signing up customers for TDMA, which still has better coverage, and phones that roam onto the analog network. And they aren't giving folks incentives to switch over to the new system. So TDMA is getting worse and worse as it gets more subscribers and no more towers.

I'm wondering how many of us have had close calls with serious criminal events in our lives. Probably most of us.

This isn't a poll though because that would just be too personal a question.

The worst thing I ever had happen was when I was assaulted in a bar by a man who decided he would teach me a few things. He grabbed me and tried to drag me right out of the bar.

If the other men in the bar hadn't jumped to my rescue I know I would have been raped, and I'm not sure I'd be alive.

I didn't want the people who rescued me to get in trouble, cause they probably went well beyond defense of others, so no police. He got his ass unbelievably kicked though, so I figured that was punishment enough. I bet you he doesn't do that any more.

I am a rape survivor.
