Suck it, City of Angels.
And shouldn't they go ahead and have Becksy wear one of those red no-contact jerseys, like QBs where in spring ball? Might save some whistles. And I've taken to calling Landon "Kobe." Which works for me in terms of hating a talented player. Except that Kobe has always killed the Blazers.

We watched the first half and were pretty damned impressed with the Timber with the first two goals. What was with the red kit? I'd not seen that at home before. We've seen both Seattle games and the Chicago opener, and it seems like Portland has had a pretty up and down season. Nice to beat LA. Through a fluke and extreme niceness on the part of someone in the Dynamo office, we ended up with tickets for the rest of the season*. We can't make the Timbers game on Sunday, but if it is televised at all, we'll be watching.
Did any one else see the Chivas Guadlajara bicycle kick against the Barca B sqad last night? Thing of beauty.

*Two days after our accident, someone from the Dynamo ticket office called trying to sell season tickets. G explained that we weren't quite sure what we were doing for the rest of the season because of the accident. She felt so bad about bugging him that she comped him two tix to the Red Bulls game (tied at 89th minute). Later, I bought him season tix for next year in the crazy fan supporters section for his birthday. Fast forward two and a half months to last week and he gets a stack of tickets in the mail. The lady in the Dynamo office is leaving to go be a New Jersey state trooper, so she sent us her personal tickets for the rest of this season with a note hoping that we're recovered from the accident. Great seats about halfway between midfield and a goal.

I'd say Naomi, but with two caveats- first in that picture she looks like she might have man-toes- second she has anger issue, right?

Naomi was a one-of-a-kind beauty. They're constantly trying to find younger lookalikes. She was amazing. But Elle had perfect tits.

First time for the red kit at home, I think. Haven't heard an explanation. Very up and down season, and mostly down of late. I was just hoping for a competitive game last night. I lucked into a ticket late and almost passed on it; glad I didn't.
Nice score on the Houston tix. I'll be watching on Sunday.

I considered bitching about your use of 20-year old photos, but we've all learned that you do your art for you, and not for the critics.
Besides, some things are timeless.

I haven't watched much MLS stuff and had no idea who the Timbers were, but reading this made me want to check out a Timbers game someday.

The Pacific Northwest is awesome for the MLS. I'd LOVE to see a game up there. Great fans, great traditions, and dedicated teams. The Sounders* are talking about expanding tickets to the upper decks of the stadium (whichever the Seahawks play in, it's changed names a lot), and they outsell the next closest team by 10,000 tickets. Portland is brand spankin new to the MLS, but has one of the best supporters groups out there. Both Timber and Sounder games this year were nationally televised, and you could tell that the teams (and fans) hate each other. TONS of Seattle fans drove down for the second game, and they had to be separated within the stadium. (tied first game, Seattle won second).
They're more EPL type fans up there in the PacNW, with songs and chants and marches to the stadium (and presumably bar brawls). We are more Mexican in tradition (surprise, surprise), and our supporters show up late and bring a horn section (and definitely bar brawls).
The Dynamo tried** to establish a similar rivalry with Dallas FC, but the Dallas soccer fan base is pretty anemic, which is sad since Clint Dempsy's formative years were spent playing soccer in Dallas. Still, the Dynamo sell about a 1000 more tickets a game than the Rockets, and I imagine that next year when we get our new stadium, they'll sell more. Robertson, where we play now, sucks, and pretty soon the stupid football hashmarks are going to mar the pitch.
*Whose ass was kicked by the Dynamo in a satisfying game on Saturday. Sounders fans bitched that the Dynamo "played dirty." Sounders fans can suck it.
** Billboard in Dallas that didn't even get tagged.

Re: Full of impotent rage
The electric radiance of Los Angeles at night.
It's striking and beautiful, perhaps in part because nighttime is the only period in which Los Angeles traffic actually moves.
