Re: Congratulations Slave and Catrin!!!
After being forced to buy a fucking Vista PC for my wife's job, having used only macs and occasional XP for the past 3 years, I can truly say that the mac/pc commercials don't do Vista justice.
And as far as the Mojave experiment: give me a fucking break.
No one with the brain of an amoeba would think that this piece of shit operating system would be any good at anything other than taking a flying fuck at a rolling donut.

This analysis seemed spot-on to me and then moreso after my visit to the Apple store yesterday. I inquired about a battery replacement (thanks to Icky for his helpful remarks earlier) and the greeter's first impulse was to tell me that I could trade in the old one for 10% off whatever new one I buy. I plan to buy a new one but was thinking about giving my old one to my nephew. It costs $80 to replace the battery and I have to make an appointment to do it. Sufficiently expensive and a pain in the ass that it's not worth it. I probably will just trade in the old one just for recycling reasons when I buy a new one in a few weeks.
Also, the place was pretty full, compared to the rest of the mall on a Friday afternoon, and considering that everyone is supposedly not spending their money on frivolous retail.

Hottest Boston Lawyers???
Regarding Less's post on the purportedly most beautiful lawyers of Massachusetts slideshow. The selection committee must have had criteria in addition to looks. Otherwise I cannot explain why this guy is on the list:

Oh my. Suddenly, I do not know if I know this Obama fellow well enough. Who is he really. I clearly must vote for McCain. Thank you for bringing this outrageous crime to my attention.

Zeke is an asshole.
eta: If he was trying to kill himself, as others imply, then "asshole" isn't the right word.

2 people tell one story, and some cop says they're lying, and Ty, wait for it now..............he accepts the cop's version.
Poor guy is still holding a grudge from 20 years ago, when Zeke knocked the celtics into the pit.
20 year grudges can fester. Ty, please move on.

Right.
Quote:
Authorities were called early Friday to Thomas' Westchester County home, where police said a 47-year-old man was taken to the hospital and treated for an overdose of sleeping pills. Several media outlets reported that police confirmed it was Thomas who went to the hospital.
But reached on his cell phone Friday, the 47-year-old NBA great told the New York Post he had not been treated for a sleeping pill overdose, and that it was 17-year-old daughter Lauren who had a medical issue.
It "wasn't an overdose," he told the newspaper. "My daughter is very down right now. None of us are OK."
Hall forcefully refuted Thomas' statement.
"My cops ... know the difference between a 47-year-old black male and a young black female," Hall said.
