more fall out

other board has speculation that another shoe may drop soon

I would think if so it will be after first of year, but maybe not so long after that. The rumor I hear still centers around some of the IP folk that are left (are there very many in that category).

The number may be higher or lower, but I have not done a count. In last 18 months Ip alone has lost about a dozen or more. Land use I think also lost all or most of its people.

If you read the "whole truth" or the J&G provided story with DMN it was just "downsizing" / getting rid of deadwood or people who left for life style reasons. A roughly 33% drop in size in that short a period of time, especially when it is Office Managing partners or practice group leaders is hard to explain that way though.

The DMN article seems to leave impression that per partner is way up. But then didn't per partner also go up for Arter before its demise?

Yalechk should explain this all to us mere mortals as she is an insider. How is this all being explained away.

When are you going to stop posting this question every time the Jenkens' thread slows down?

(It has been about 6 weeks since you last posted this question (repeatedly)).

I like to piss you off.

Besides, it is fairly clear that Jenkens is having serious problems.

Other firms with serious problems include Jackson Walker and Vinson and Elkins. I expect that Jackson Walker will implode (perhaps before Jenkens), while Vinson and Elkins will simply ride it out (although, I keep getting resumes from practice group leaders that want to lateral to my firm - we are not interested).

But they don't have the tax problems the J&G does:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2003Aug14.html

and I hear they have boards / chair who provide a bit more sober leadership.

As one of MANY recent J&Gers (left by choice), I have to say I don't think it will implode completely. However, most smart associates and partners are getting out as it is really bad over there. The branch offices are hemmoraging quickly as the slight improvement in the economy of some of those cities makes it possible to find other jobs. As soon as the TX econ improves, it may be enough to actually pull JG under. Many partners have thought the Chair has been running the firm into the ground, and are particularly furious over the handling of the recent scandal.

About a year ago, the board of the firm was rumored to say that it was not concerned about loss of attorneys and attorney dissatisfaction because they didn't believe anyone could find jobs elsewhere. Now there are reeling from the loss of almost 100 attys, almost ALL voluntary. And the heathcare group's last day is tomorrow...

Maybe I'll change my prediction.

As a result of their having lost almost 100 attorneys, do you think they might have any entry-level openings for new attorneys? What about in IP? Could you recommend any branch offices for a patent type to look in?

If this is true, I doubt that they are in a hiring mode. Are you looking in Dallas?

Yes, because the doctors and hospitals that pay them are going to be so financially strapped after that.

WTF are you talking about? Healthcare groups doesn't mean plaintiff's lawyers who go after doctors for medmal.
