How do you steer with only the back wheels on the ground?

Hey Alex

You were right.

Not silver, but a heck of a paint job on the plastic parts.

Need a convertible for 4 plus dog. Need luggage room. Don't want to spend more than about 32k

Discuss among yourselves.

Good luck on the dog part. And the luggage.

You might also consider the PT Cruiser convertible.
  • First and foremost, it's a four-seater. The rag-top cognoscenti know that a convertible's feel good factor increases arithmetically with each additional passenger. If the rear seats are spacious, the pleasure generated is almost inconceivable.

The Camry convertible will only carry 4 adults if 2 of them are amputees.
Maybe 2 adults and a dog. No luggage.

I'll check but getting a convertible for 4 people kind of defeats the purpose of "sports car." And a CLK is going to be a tad out of the price range.

Mustang?

These are hot. I am coveting my neighbor's and trying to rationalize the purchase of a second car in a city where most sane people have none.

Is there such a thing as a 4-door convertible?

Not since 1967.

The Helios concept is a true automotive rarity--a four-door convertible. The last production four-door ragtop was the 1967 Lincoln Continental, which was stylish, to be sure, but has nothing on this stunning car. In this customized Chrysler 300C, ASC thinks it has hurdled the primary stumbling blocks to such a vehicle--namely side-impact safety and structural rigidity--through the use of items such as an innovative bulkhead and what they call "tunnel doublers."

I suppose the Chrysler Seabring also fits the bill. I've been in the back seat of one and lived, but I have no idea what the trunk room is like. Kind of an older model nearing the end of its lifecycle. A fully loaded one is probably less than $30k with incentives.

I've also spent some time in the last generation Mustang convertable. The back seat is usable for short distances. It has a fair sized trunk. I still don't know where you'd put the dog. I think the new Mustang is roughly the same in regard to the criteria you specified. Also less than $30K unless completely loaded.

Used Audi A4? Used Saab 9-3? In both cases you're looking at a 2004 with 20K miles in your price range, I'd suspect.

A 325i that drowned in Tropical Storm Allison fit that bill perfectly in my family for years. There was much crying when it was pronounced dead.

That particular mod was $12k on top of the list price. But that included crapt like the chromes and tv screens. So probably about $42-45 out the door.
