A sad, constant bid for attention?

Superstar athelete. Stunningly wealthy. Talented at a level that is truly magnificent -- whatever you say about his personality, his character, his ability to truly fuck up a team, his physical talent is marvelous. (People like him remind me of the line in Searching for Bobby Fischer -- "He's better at this than I am at anything. He's better at this than you ever will be at anything.")

And depressed to the point of being suicidal. It doesn't fit. Granted, he was and is disliked by more people than anyone on this board, or everyone together, has even met. But he seemed to thrive off that, too.

I don't know -- I'm not clear why I find this so sad. I've watched people travel the path to suicide or suicide attempts, and it's just not something you forget.
It's the inevitability of the thing... Sometimes you think "Why am I doing this? I'm just going to die."

Then you recall its fun to fuck and get twisted out of your mind and hang out with friends. So you live through whatever dreck you have to get back to those moments. Or you try to find something you love to do every day and enjoy the whole ride.

Do not... I repeat, do not eat a whole tray of fresh mozzarella, beefsteak tomatoes and farmer's market basil and olive oil before bed after a handful of vodkas and stouts.

The next morning will be uncomfortable... "liberating," but uncomfortable...

TO says not suicide. Not surprising.
He took extra pills with his supplement. There were extra pills in a drawer. His "friend" was mistaken and he did not take 35 pills.
He looks good actually. That is a good thing.
He says he's not depressed and he worked out with the team today.

I would also like to thank whatever forces are in place that make leftover rigatoni with spicy sausage taste even better the next day.

DDP is not as good as Prosecca, though. No offense, fringey.

Dissent. Suicide's like voting... all the wrong people do it.

Interesting that Parcells pretty much said he knew nothing.

And now TO is saying he's been working out with Drew all afternoon.

I agree. DDP is good for a non-alcoholic beverage.

I want one.

I understand what you're saying, but this should be rephrased. A lot of the people in this country who need help and want attention go get pills to deal with the fact they're not interesting enough to warrant one, and too annoying for anyone to take time to offer them the other.

If you could get these people into suicide centers, you'd be on to something...

Or maybe they could just befriend Michael Irvin.

Do people think using the passive voice = not lying?

Or do they do it out of embarrassment over sensitive subject matter, or are they just stilted out of habit or because they've watched too many news conferences led by police spokesmen, or do they think it's more convincing?

E.g., Deion Sanders said,"The fact that it has been reported a suicide attempt, Terrell has laughed at that notion ...It was a case that the medication taken wasn't accepted well in his system with the other vitamins he's on."

And TO said "there was no suicide attempt."

I'm not critiquing their speaking style (hi, Sidd!) as I am sure they have discussed what they were going to say and how with a passel of advisers. It's just so unnatural.

Coke sex is merely inevitable. And never very good. You win.

I think it's a result of trying to sound smarter. Like TO's repeated incorrect use of the word "moreover".

btw, I have less trouble swallowing TO's "I was out of it" than I do his publicist's allegations that the things in the police report just didn't happen.
