Re: No Faith in the Moral Standards of the Players as a Group

In the end, I leased an e-Golf. We were going to buy, but the finance guy persuaded us it makes more sense to lease, and it was not a hard sell, because I'm betting the electric-car technology will improve a lot in the next three years. I asked him, what is VW going to do with a bunch of three-year-old electric cars? He said, they're going to send them back to the factory, replace the batteries with engines, and sell them in Eastern Europe.

Beguiled again.

I probably should have warned him before we started watching "Bell Book and Candle" last night, and now poor old Not Bob is shot for the week. He keeps asking if we can move to Greenwich Village.

I don't have the heart to tell him that it was filmed on a lot in California.

Apropos of cars, I think we are getting rid of the miniature van. It's too much car. Looking at an MDX or maybe an Infiniti QX60 (although that thing is a beast too). If any of y'all have any experience with either of these (or the Highlander), let me know.

My parents have an MDX, which I've driven a bit. I really do not like it, as it's much to big for my taste. It's also a pain to park in the city. But my complaints are limited to size as it seems to be decent vehicle.

I also drove the Q when we were shopping for vehicle for the wife. I'd so do yourself a favor and go smaller.

Obviously, I have no kids, so, maybe that doesn't work for you, but a lot of the extra space in the MDX is in the cargo area and/or taken up by extra stuff in the passenger cabin. Tiguan might be too small for your family, but as far as interior passenger space, it does not feel smaller than a lot of physically bigger vehicles.

Thanks for the input. I never drive in/into the city (train to/from). And while the third row isn't necessary, there are certainly plenty of times when the neighbor and I will throw all four kids into one car, which is nice (and not do-able without the third row).

We used to have an RDX, and have an MDX now. I've had really good experience with the Acuras and recommend them. Test drive both to see which works better for you.

We had an RDX before the van and loved it. A fun little SUV to drive.

This is cute. It's like the Gatti version of C2ed's old meme, "if your chest is hurting go see a doctor, don't ask people on the board what's wrong with you."

We have a Volvo XC-90 and like it enough -- would rather drive something smaller with a stick shift, but that's not an option if you need a third row.

And who knows if you'll still need HOV access then.

It's barely an option if you need a second row these days.

Is the absence of a third row a non-starter? Personally, I think an excuse not to have 4+ kids in the car is a positive.

Q5 if no third row needed. Q7 if needed.
