Not cool for anyone who had to watch it. Ick.
His ex-wife, on the other hand, is slowly committing suicide by tanorexia.

I would like to take a moment to reflect upon the loss of Christina Applegate's twins:

And Raider nation weeps
NEW YORK (AP) — Gene Upshaw, the Hall of Fame guard who during a quarter century as union head helped get NFL players free agency and the riches that came with it, has died. He was 63.
Upshaw died Wednesday night at his home in Lake Tahoe, Calif., of pancreatic cancer, which was diagnosed only last Sunday, the NFL Players Association said Thursday. His wife Terri and sons Eugene Jr., Justin and Daniel were by his side.

A bad week for athletes
LINCOLN CITY, Ore. - Former Portland Trail Blazer center Kevin Duckworth died while on a trip to the Oregon Coast to host a free basketball clinic. He was 44.
Man. 44 is not old. No word on how he died, but that's sad.

Here's guessing congestive heart failure.
Second guess: complications from diabetes.

Re: 5th Annual (2008 Version) Celebrity Death Pool!
i just read the lead obit in today's NYT and the headline is: "Thomas H. Weller, Whose Work on Tissue Led to Nobel Prize, Is Dead at 93"
and my first thought was he worked for Kleenex. I think that means i had to upgrade my reading, or start eating brain food or something.

Actually, if the obit were about Slave or Less, it might read "whose work with tissues led to happy endings..."

Some jests are not so infinite.
David Foster Wallace, 46.
Boy, that's a rude shock.
