I've heard this criticism from others, too, but I'm not quite sure I understand it. From the beginning, Grantland was always a mix of sports and pop culture (much like Bill's columns). Maybe the quality of their sports articles and features declined? I dunno.
It was a great place for lengthier stories, and the shut-down really leaves a gap in my reading list. Plus, they had brilliant writers - Wesley Morris, Molly Lambert, Katie Baker, and too many others to list. |
