Wrong and wrong. That's what happens when you take your information from opposing counsel or, from the car salesman that is selling you a car.
9 3 Sport Combi selling like shit in US
I checked everywhere in the country and this is the current offer:
Purchase Offer: 2007 9-3 SportCombi
$3,000 Customer Cash
OR
As low as 0% APR financing for qualified buyers.**
Customer Appreciation Program
Current Saab owners are eligible to receive $1,000 Owner Loyalty Cash on the purchase of a 2007 9-3 SportCombi or $500 Owner Loyalty Cash on the lease of a 2007 9-3 SportCombi.

That isn't my source.
As for the incentives, there are NO lease deals right now, which is what I am after. Sure $3k is a nice discount of paying cash, but I am not interested.
As for depreciation, the residual on a 27 month lease is 70%, which is better than a comparable 3er or A4.

Well, in about 2 years and 3 months, you should be able to find a lot of these models, previously owned, on dealer lots.

Negotiate a little harder. What is the cap cost you are using MSRP? If so you are getting ripped. Use 3k off invoice.

I don't really know where you are geographically but this place seems to have some great deals.

But I did just reserve one of these for an upcoming trip to Italy:

Good luck, and we expect a full report.
When I went to Italy, I had reserved an Alfa Romeo. Instead, they gave me a diesel Opel wagon. That seemed like a fair trade.

Well that sucks. What company did you rent from? I selected EuropCar, and I reserved a car class that contains the Alfa 159, and Volvo V50, and a BMW 1er, as well as an opel (astra, I think). I'm hoping that since I specified Nav i have a greater chance of actually getting what I want.

I can't remember, but I want to say something like Avis. My travel agent had handled it. I protested for a minute, but didn't see myself as getting anywhere. Maybe they screwed me, but I'm pretty self-conscious when I travel abroad about coming across as an ugly American, so I resigned myself to taking the wagon.

Assume I am car-stupid, but not hopeless.
I am thinking about buying a new car. There may be a new, longer commute in my future, and with gas clearly over $3 a gallon, my 14MPG Jeep Grand Cherokee is going to be a painful option.
When I mentioned to my dad that I was thinking about this, and thinking about maybe a hybrid, he urged me to think about a diesel. I've done the research, and it turns out he's right... on a strictly MPG basis, the diesels blow doors on the hybrids.
I live in the deep south, so there's no worry about plugging the car in to keep the fuel warm or anything (Can you tell I once tried to drive a diesel in Syracuse NY?).
So, besides the fact that diesels are less green than hybrids and less ubiquitous, are there any other things I should be considering?
For the record, I'm looking at both Mercedes and Volkswagens diesel offerings.
