Huh. The genius (or whatever they call their hipster, slacker sales force) at the Apple Store I visited while taking a deposition out of town in November called the Bose dock "an over-priced piece of crap," and told me that the cheaper, smaller JBL circlular docking thingy produced a far better sound. So Santa bought the JBL for the Not Bobette, and she loves it.
