The last time I was out with Pynchon, he seemed to have just stopped giving a fuck.

This looks great -- anyone read it?

Speaking of Pynchon, I am reading Gravity's Rainbow and Infinite Jest. The morphine has helped immensely.

Last time I read Infinite Jest I was about half way through when I realized it was really a long, carefully thought out suicide note from Dave. I then put the book down, didn't finish it, haven't gone back, and feel sad whenever I think about it. Thanks for reminding me.

Anyone read "The Buried Giant?" Ishiguro does not write the same book twice.

I thought about it, but reviews were not entirely kind.

I'm going on a long vacation next week and expect to have lots of time to sit on a beach and read books. Suggestions? It's a good time to tackle something big.

I have to read everything he writes. I would never read a review before reading one of his. The reviews are all over the place actually. At first glance, it is very different for him, it's a fantasy with pixies and ogres and dragons. But he has written surrealistic stuff before, so maybe it isn't too different?

I liked it.

I am still on the fence. If you liked it, maybe I'll pick it up this week.

I just read The Maintenance of Headway, by Magnus Mills -- I liked it, but not as much as some of his other stuff.

Sorry. I didn't meant to bring up any pain
