I think the boring reality will be:

1. Butler is heavily Trump area, and there are no tall buildings around that farm, so Secret Service was probably a wee bit less vigilant than usual.

Those words describe an intentional manner of thinking which involves agency. The word for the thing you've described is unconscious bias. I may seem to be quibbling, but given we are in Orwellian times, classical definitions of important words are, I think, important to recognize.

This is why I detested Plaintiffs' cases. Most things are not a result of true negligence. They are caused by a confluence of events not all of which could ever be foreseen. But that doesn't stop people crafting a narrative that it's someone's fault, someone's negligence.

Everybody needs a fucking story about why something happened.

I'd say what deserves opprobrium here is our demand that this event be explained to us as a narrative. The fact that despite modern man having been here for thousands of years, we still haven't shed that idiot gene that compels us to have to turn every random set of acts or omissions into a "story" that seems satisfying is really fucking pathetic.

I remember when Palin was nominated. My 20 year old daughter had never been politically involved. Suddenly she was geeked- imagine a woman for VP! Then Palin became, well, you remember.

But I truly think Harris can turn out more women and people of color. Hillary lost vote because of gender, I know, but I got to believe she gained lots too. She lost for other reasons.
