Comey said (his words) that Sztrok and McCabe allowed their bias to "affect" the investigation. Does that discredit the investigation? Only partially, which is why I used "tainted."

Which is such a shame as it "completely exonerated" the president and all.

And I answered it. Based on my experience (and probably also basal brain activity of almost any conscious human) nobody erases a server like that, in a manner Comey described as "extremely careless," for entirely benign reasons.
But you know that.
Your side gets a pass, the other side does not. The only exception I saw to this was an occasional criticism here of Obama for being too centrist where he might have been more progressive.
The two party system hacks the brain. And it hacks it so well an asshat from a reality show can force the whole world's attention in his direction, like a giant black hole.
Trump isn't Putin's dupe. We're Putin's dupes.

Right. You say I have some frantic bias that keeps me from seeing things the way you do--so completely neutral. I tell you I don't have a bias, but I have reactions that are based on actual evidence of him being a horrible person. Then you claim my hatred has now overtaken my brain. This is such a stupid argument.
If you were to say, "You can't see the evidence for or against Trump clearly because you only read everything in the worst possible light," that would be one thing. It would be wrong, but at least it's not this obvious whitewash trick you think you're constantly pulling where you get to dismiss actual points people make because they're just haters.

God, you really are dumb. He's the President of the United States who is instituting actual policy (or ceding it to the most hateful, small-minded sycophants in exchange for praise and loyalty). Laughing this shit off with an eye roll isn't an option for anyone who cares about things other than the current situation in their wallet.
When he was just a low rent r/e developer/reality show star/racist Obama critic from Queens, with shit for brains, I gave him the thought and attention he deserved, which you should note, is as close to none as possible.

So I'm interviewing now for a couple of jobs, and have a very good candidate sent to me by a headhunter. She's top 10% of her class, summa, a few years out at a big firm, done interesting things, clearly a good candidate. The headhunter she is working with tells me about eight times, over the court of three phone calls, how "presentable" she is. Headhunter is doing nothing but selling me on her appearance.
Fucking patriarchy.

Conf: to GGG: As the only one to have seen you in a work environment, I think maybe there's another explanation? Headhunters see everyone as a potential candidate. Maybe he was reminding you that appearance is important, and you might want to update your wardrobe?

She - headhunter is a she.
No, she hasn't seen me in person. Besides, khakis and polo shirts never go out of style (hi Flower!).
But thank you for your concern.
FYI, I'm invited to a cocktail party during INTA thrown by the folks who think you are a socialist. Should I go? What should I wear?

For the first time I can remember I fear that Roe may go down. Not a joke.

Now wait. Hank, do you mean you didn't believe any of the Republicans when they talked about this being a litmus test for justices? I mean, they've been telling us they'll do this for a long, long time.
I don't mean that as a slight, it's just that they've told us a lot of other shit they'd like to do - I think we should believe them.

Oh, I agree. I guarantee Kavanaugh was put up specifically for how he'd vote on this issue.

No, that's not what he said. He said:
Quote:
QUESTION: Good evening. Considering the high standards that we set for law enforcement, what do you think should have been the consequences for Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, and Andrew McCabe?
COMEY: I thank you for the question. I think, given the standards that we have, and especially we in the FBI have, there should have been and was severe discipline around their behavior, as Anderson said, very different episodes of behavior.
Everyone has opinions about political issues and religious issues and sports issues. You can't bring them to work and have them affect your work. There have to be severe consequences.
|
He made a general observation about the need for people at DOJ to leave their political views at home, something I agree with. He did not say that Mueller's investigation was tainted or politicized. I'm not sure why you think that doubling down on a stupid point is a good idea -- you should give it up. Stop trying to pretend that Comey agrees with you. He doesn't.

Res ipsa, Don Quixote. I stand by Comey’s words as written. Your spin? Unavailing.

Whatever indeed. We’ve killed this subject.
So, moving on... I find the shitshow going on at the state level in re abortion to be the most amazing of strategy gaffes. The GOP has a weak incumbent, but one who already has the states at issue in the bag. And yet the GOP is allowing state party operatives to green light an anti-woman legal crusade (destined to fail) which will only galvanize more moderate women against Trump?
The GOP is insane. It could re-elect Trump on economic issues. But this Roe challenge stuff is going to prove the old moderate Republican view on rescinding abortion rights true: “You don’t do that, even if you can. It’s doom.”
Trump had an arm tied behind his back in the election already. Now he’s fucked. All Biden has to say is “I support Roe” and he grabs tons of otherwise economic female Trump voters, and he kills the argument he’s anti-woman based on the Anita Hill mess.
The GOP has lost its fucking mind. And it’s so crazy, I think it might think allowing this Roe-challenging insanity is a winning strategy.
