Avatar Size

When we first started this version of the board a couple of people commented that the Avatar size seemed very small to them. I responded that we chose the size because it seemed about what other boards use, and also, that I was concerned about the cost to our hosting. I also said, however that once I had a better idea how much bw we needed that I would revisit the issue.

I know now we can afford to have the Avatars bigger, but before I bother I figured I would ask.

So please let me know, do you like the Avatars as they are. Do you think they need to be a little bit bigger, a good bit bigger or do you not care and wish I would just make up my mind on my own for once.

Thanks

L

Avatar Enchantress

I've had my eye on a slightly larger mpeg Cheshire Cat that really disappears (except for the smile). I will let you decide whether or not letting me have it is a good thing.

Seem about right to me. They could get a bit bigger, but eventually they'll spread over past the left column. I say leave them the same, or perhaps small increase. 120x120?

You are correct, to some degree we are controlled by the margin size. I am not certain how big we could go.

But here are some samples for sake of comparison.

My avatar is 100x88. The current size is 100x100, so your Avatars are going to be somewhere around there.

We could take it up to 120x120 without trouble I think.

I am not sure we could go as big as 150x150

Here are some different sizes (the image will degrade as I make it bigger. That is something to keep in mind in regard to ease of finding an avatar.)

My current avatar 100x88

My current avatar at 110x96

At 120x104

At 130x112

At 150x129

Go Big

Considering that I didn't notice the cat had a rifle until looking at the largest avatar, I vote for the largest size.
