No, it wants those who it believes to be below them to be below them. Approaching or surpassing them is what they care about. They're real, white Americans and America is for them, darnit.

That's part of the problem. The other part is they aren't irrational from their point of view, which is status-based.

There was an interesting recent This American Life about Jason Kessler, Charlottesville "Unite the Right" organizer and the Proud Boys. Probably veered a bit too much into rituals and stated non-racist beliefs of that group, but the interview with Kessler was interesting. He didn't get a job, found out a woman did, and he, like the rest of them, was convinced that white men are the most oppressed people in America.
One way to look at this is that those people aren't getting what they want. Another is to understand that these people are morons who have zero understanding of oppression.

That would not be an IP guy, unless, maybe trademark?

I went to night school at Temple, and I could always justify the lower GPA of the night students: night school classes contain day students who have more time to study.
But there's no getting around the lower average LSAT score of the night students. The day program filled up more quickly so the students at the lower end of the "day acceptance range" got pushed to the night program, with the hope of eventually getting into the day program.
My small IP firm was filled with former night students who eventually got very pedigree conscious as the firm grew. In-house is much more law school-diverse.
When interviewing candidates for a patent position, I'm always biased toward the former night law students, unless they waited until after law school was over to get their patent reg. no. I hate that. Take the damn exam before starting LS or during your first summer. Sometimes there is a good reason for waiting, but generally I crucify them for that. Just not good planning.

I like the club tie and the firm handshake, a certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

Not politics, but surprised that the Yankees got to Game 7 of the ALCS and then fired Girardi.

Not surprising. He tends to over-manage. And the mistake he made in game 2 of the division series was so fucking egregious and stupid that we made it to game 7 of the ALCS despite him.
That said, it wouldn't bother me if he stayed on. I think most people in NY reacted to the news with a shrug.

Mother, do you think they'll drop the bomb?
Ooh, aah, mother, should I build the wall?
Mother, should I run for president?
Mother, should I trust the government?
Ooh, aah, is it just a waste of time?
