More important - hopefully they'll get similar, if not worse, treatment in county. Repeatedly. Every Day.
Are there pool cues in the rec room at county? You told me about the ping-pong table. That sounded fun.

By the way, I think these animals' lawyer (the one I understand called the victim a slut, suggested she was an aspiring porn actress, etc.) should be first in line to have something large and pointy inserted into one or more of his orfices. I think a rabid hedgehog would do nicely. Can someone ask Spanky to look out his window?

I wondered if he could be disbarred if they can tie any of the harrassment stuff to him in the civil trial. What a douchebag. And I apologize to douchebags everywhere for denegrating that word by the association with that guy.

Serious q, anyone have an estimate on what Don Haidl paid for the defense efforts (incl. investogators, consultants etc. et al.)? Was he footing the bill for the attorneys for all 3?

This would include the defense lawyer who posited that it wasn't possible to tell exactly how far the victim was anally penatrated with a pool cue because "she has a big rump".

I read that Haidl's dad paid about $6MM.

This matter comes before the Court on Plaintiff's Motion to designate location of a Rule 30(b)(6) deposition (Doc. 105). Upon consideration of the Motion – the latest in a series of Gordian knots that the parties have been unable to untangle without enlisting the assistance of the federal courts – it is

ORDERED that said Motion is DENIED. Instead, the Court will fashion a new form of alternative dispute resolution, to wit: at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, June 30, 2006, counsel shall convene at a neutral site agreeable to both parties. If counsel cannot agree on a neutral site, they shall meet on the front steps of the Sam M. Gibbons U.S. Courthouse, 801 North Florida Ave., Tampa, Florida 33602. Each lawyer shall be entitled to be accompanied by one paralegal who shall act as an attendant and witness. At that time and location, counsel shall engage in one (1) game of "rock, paper, scissors." The winner of this engagement shall be entitled to select the location for the 30(b)(6) deposition to be held somewhere in Hillsborough County during the period July 11-12, 2006. If either party disputes the outcome of this engagement, an appeal may be filed and a hearing will be held at 8:30 A.M. on Friday, July 7, 2006 before the undersigned in Courtroom 3, George C. Young United States Courthouse and Federal Building, 80 North Hughey Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32801.

In other words, "see you on the front steps of the courthouse."

That's hilarious.

I'm glad you don't do litigation either, otherwise I'd really have to start hating you.

Trust me on that.

Expect motion practice on whether it should properly be called rock, paper, scissors or ro-sham-bo.

I'm thinking that would go a little something like this. . .

[Setting: Courthouse steps]

KRAMER & MICKEY: Rock, paper, scissors match.

MICKEY: all right, rock beats paper.

(Mickey smacks Kramer on the hand for losing)

KRAMER: I thought paper covered rock?

MICKEY: Nah, rock flies right through paper.

KRAMER: What beats rock?

MICKEY: (looks at his hand) Nothing beats rock.

KRAMER: all right come on.

KRAMER & MICKEY: Rock, paper, scissors match.

KRAMER: Rock.

MICKEY: Rock

KRAMER & MICKEY: Rock, paper, scissors match.

KRAMER: Rock.

MICKEY: Rock.

(Bob walks by)

MICKEY: Hey Bob. What's with you? You gotta problem? (to Kramer) You see that look he gave me? (starts to get up to go after him)

KRAMER: (stops Mickey) all right, come on.

KRAMER & MICKEY: Rock, paper, scissors match.

KRAMER: Rock.

MICKEY: Rock.
