I have only been to Paradise Island. And that was a long time ago. But as I recall, the snorkling was amazing, the water is clear and warm. The sand beaches were beautiful. Everything was expensive, though.

A beer on the beach cost $10, but whatever it was on the beach. I seem to recall a lot of leathery tourists that had spent too much time in the sun, but there's a lot of other stuff going on in Nassau.

check it out

Only drawback is I think some reality couple got married there. eta I thought it was Trista and Ryan. Turns out it was Rob and Amber.

At Atlantis.

Maybe Costa Rica. Maybe Honduras. Maybe Turks and Caicos. Maybe St. Kitts.

A lot would depend on the airfare and schedules.

I would also avoid Club Med. I hate them.

I'm not a huge fan of the Bahamas.

I spent about ten days in Roatan. I loved it. It's the best diving I've ever done, it was dirt cheap, and it wasn't terribly bad to get to.

That said, it's not luxurious, the food is not great, and there's not a whole lot to do besides diving.

Feel free to PM for more details.

It's not going to be scorching hot, but otherwise it's a great time to go to Amalfi.

Late November

Anyone have a suggestion for a late November vacation? To avoid the post Thanksgiving mayhem, we're not going to leave until Monday. Right now Key West is in the running.

For a variety of reasons, Bermuda, the Carolinas, and the Gulf Coast have been ruled out. So have skiing destinations, and those lovely islands where the only activities are vegging on the beach and diving.

Peru

Anyone here (besides Less, who is already giving me input) done any traveling in Peru? I'm signed up for a 10-day August trip to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu and welcome any suggestions, etc. I'll be doing a group tour so my schedule is somewhat set, though I'll probably add on an excursion or two at the end of the trip. Add on choices are: Peruvian rainforest (3-5 days), Lake Titicaca (1-2 days) or Ica, Paracas and Nazca Lines (1-3 days). The first and third options sound most intriguing to me. Third option includes Peruvian penguins!!

I can't think of any reason not to go. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Where are you thinking of staying? Positano is unbelievable. Ravello is nice. Capri is cool and a bit ritzier, if you're into that sort of thing.

Pretty darn hepful to reply to her inquiry only 6 months after the trip would have occurred.
