Uh, no, once she has the *real* ring, no need to fuck. She's still in her 20s, right?

No shit. I've got a year to get the fucking in before it's all over.

No, no, ask club over in the spanky / sv board. Women in their 20s don't like fucking.

Don't be so hard on him. Everything he knows he learned from Ayn Rand books. You can imagine how difficult that makes it to get laid in your 20s.

I have no idea what you mean by this. Ayn Rand is a narrowminded cunt.
ETA: oops, you're talking about Spanky. My bad.

Looking for suggestions for a place to stay that is on the beach, but not too expensive. I want to be able to see and hear the ocean from my room.
Needless to say, the hotel does not have to be kid-friendly.

On what beach? La Jolla? What are you wanting to do in San Diego? I don't really think of it as the ideal beach vacation place. I think that the OC has more beachy resorts for less of a drive if you want that sort of thing. SD is cooler (temp-wise) than LA and OC by 5-10 degrees (average temps in the mid to upper 60s year-round). I could help you out with downtown stuff if you are into city pursuits, but if it is purely beach stuff you want, I know La Jolla or Del Mar are the main resort areas, but I think they are more known for other things than purely beachy stuff. For example Torrey Pines golf resort.
That said, Hotel del Coronado is quite beachy. And generally very cool to visit (a landmark hotel). Not sure of the price, but as far as I know, it is the most beach-resort-feeling place I know of in SD. Excellent Sunday brunch also.

I would second the Del. They'll take care of you.
Especially if you happen to be an older woman who has it to flaunt, and wants to cruise for some fresh young prime filet.

I haven't ever been to San Diego and have 4 days and want to go. Prob will go to zoo and other touristy stuff. I like hearing/seeing ocean-- it'll be in Feb so not really looking to lie in the sun or anything.
Don't think I have it to flaunt.

Ok. In that case, go to del Coronado. Really it doesn't have any competition. There are some good hotels downtown that are on the bay, but not beachy at all. Coronado/downtown will be much more convenient for the touristy stuff than La Jolla (which is nice for a day of shopping and strolling (including lunch on the balcony at George's!), but otherwise a rip(off)).
And buy a good map before you get there because the signage is generally awful.

I will definitely get a map and prepare myself psychologically for getting horribly lost.
The del Coronado looks fabulous, but if anyone has any slightly less pricey recs? I'm feeling cheap after the holidays.

Not for beachy. But there are a ton of good, less spendy hotels downtown. I was in the Marriott (with a big convention center-type set up), which overlooks the harbor, for a convention this year, and it was much nicer than any Marriott I remember. I think there is also a Hyatt right next to that Marriott, which is also pretty new and, I'm sure, nice, though I haven't been in it.
Of course, the W and Westin downtown are excellent as well.

I have a vague memory of some beachfront hotels in Pacific Beach. Probably nothing 5-star, but on the beach, nonetheless.

I've spent a weekend at the Loew's in Coronado (a little past the Del), and it was very nice. I've also spent a weekend at the Hotel Parissi in La Jolla, and that was gorgeous. Also recommend George's at the Cove. Spectacular view, and great food.

Make sure you have breakfast at least once at the Hobnob. Good food and yummy mimosas and if i remember correctly walking distance to the border to go to TJ
