So I have to say that all of these recent stories from the left finally admitting Bill Clinton was a sexual predator leave a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. Convenient that it is now, 20 years later, after Hillary lost two races for President and the left has little use for them.

What's more disheartening to me is that apparently G. H. Bush is also inappropriate at the very least. Perhaps that explains the Bush/Clinton love fest of recent years? |

That's where Yglesias kind of loses me. Write that piece centering Broadrick, Wiley or Jones and I think he's got a point. But he mostly talks about a relationship where the alleged victim said she wasn't a victim (of the sex). |

He got a pass at the time at least in part because these claims were old and being pushed/backed by people with obvious political agendas and a track record of denying sexual harassment was even a thing. Also, because as a society we were still a decade and a half from starting to believe women, especially when it was politically inconvenient. |

I don't think he gets a pass, and agree with at least most of what's in the Vox article that SEC Chick linked to (I might agree with all of -- just don't recall). But that doesn't mean that I believe every allegation against him, either, and the fact that the people pushing the Broaddrick/Willey/Jones stuff had been behind endless efforts to delegitimize him by pushing theories about Vincent Foster and Whitewater (to take only two examples) that not only were not credible but were also transparently political -- that meant that a lot of people didn't take them seriously, for better or worse. Just as a bunch of Alabama Republicans who are supporters of Roy Moore see the recent stories as just one more effort by his foes to undo him.
IIRC, and I may not because it's been more than two decades and I have tried to recycle those brain cells for higher and better purposes, most of the allegations against Clinton involved consensual conduct, which doesn't mean it wasn't wrong. Again IIRC, the Broaddrick story was quite different, which made it less believable for me.

Right, you would like told hold Hillary accountable for the behavior of her husband and/or seeking to protect him. Because that's not complicated as all get out or anything. |

Broaddrick, Willey and Jones were alleged to be non-consensual.
We discounted all of them for the reasons you stated. I don't feel great about that in retrospect, because we've got to err on the side of believing women about these things. |
