I'd love to drop by and play with you ncs, what time are you going to be on (I'm 2 hours behind you)? Maybe E/O, Replaced and Slave can make it too. And of course, Mr. Man.

I'll try to get there around 9:30 CST. If we don't have enough people for our own table, we could just find a good NL table on the Maxim server.

Truepoker Raise or Fold Tables

Stumbled into one of these recently. I've played at plenty of play-money tables where raise was the default (indeed only) action in most players' repertiore, but to have (quite a few) where that is the explict rule? Why not just play for 4x stakes? What does that add to the game?

Just venting on a boring Friday afternoon. I'll drop in Sun night.

I wondered the same thing. I accidently went in one once and I didn't like it. Maybe if I understood the thought pattern behind it I could at least respect it but alas my tiny mind cannot comprehend it.

See you Sunday!

I am not sure if I will make it. MomOdds paid a surprise visit this week, and decided to stay through the weekend. If she leaves early, I am there.

Well, does MomOdds play cards?

E/O: I've got pocket Kings....should I slow play them.

MomOdds: Slow play kills, dear.

It wasn't me. I think it was RT.

I was too busy singing YMCA.

This weekend I played in my first True Poker fake money tourney and I finished 2nd (it was Omaha H-L). Where do I go from there? And what should I spend my fake winnings on?

Unhappy All's Quiet on the Poker Front...

Much to my chagrin, there has been no posting activity on this thread for a full month. Can't let this thread fade into obscurity that easy. I confess to have been getting my poker fix it the bricks & mortar world than on True Poker play money tables. I am, however, quite thankful for the TV poker boom and all the ATM crisp, inexperienced money it brings to the tables.

Anyway, will any of the usual suspects be online Sun evening?

I lost all interest in the tourneys when they went from $1000 entry to $10. It shouldn't matter because it's only play money. I think TruePoker's reason was crap, or at least misleading. It may have had to do with server demand, but not directly related to the entry fee/prize money, but because the number of players enerting and all the complaints about getting locked out, etc. Like Mohegan, they just decided to wash their hands of the whole thing. True Poker was even worse; they torpedeoed the tourneys to cut demand, but didn't want to own up to undercutting their own product. Its all play money anyway.

Nonetheless, I haven't been on in quite some time, and probably won't be. I won't play internet poker for real money unless I have some knowledge of who's in the room (like the fashionistas here, perhaps...) and just make it my business to get to the real thing more often.
