Wow, just catching up here, but any word on how it went? I'm seeing Mos Def next Saturday. Second Defest is opening up.

Show cancelled, without explanation, hours before showtime. Bummer.

A show by an artist named “Mos Def” was cancelled at the last minute?

Our show was rescheduled from a few weeks ago, and hopefully will not be again -- he lives in South Africa now and apparently has been having visa problems.

Maybe the fact that someone as influential as you wasn't aware of the shows maybe caused them to decide "why bother?" Think. About. It.

Re: A Friendly Correction for those Man-Haters who Delve to be Single
A senior in my kids' school was killed on Saturday night, when she stepped into the street and was hit by a taxi. She died on the street. Yesterday would've been her 18th birthday.
My son is a freshman. Though they weren't close friends or anything, he knew her from a theater group they were both in, and he say her probably every day because their lockers are close. And he knows a lot of her friends through theater (and just being in the same school since he was 4), including some of the people who were with her when she died. He was pretty devastated yesterday.
I welcome any brilliant thoughts for how to help him get through this.

No brilliant thoughts; give him lots of hugs. What a shitty reminder of how fragile this life is.

Tell him to organize something small in her honor with her friends, even if it's just a little get together to remember her that doesn't involve her family. It will make him feel like he's doing something and his group of friends will be able to mourn and share. You could let him do it at your house while you make yourself scarce-like.
Awful to hear.
