Salary Information

The Affiliate information booklet I mention on the home page also has some information for Canada.

An attorney in a large firm in Canada with 4-9 years of experience could expect to make between $118,500-151,000 which is a decrease of 7.5% from 2002.

In a midsized firm a similarly experienced attorney could expect to make between 80,000 and 146,250, which is a decrease of 4.8% from 2002.

In a small firm, a similarly experienced attorney could expect to make between 49,500 and 86,250 which is a 16.8% decrease from 2002.

Lawyers with 1-3 years of experience:

In a big firm in 2003 67,500-95,000 which is a decrease of 12.8%. In a midsized firm in 2003 59,500-83,750 which is a decrease of 7% and in a small firm, 44,000-61,500 which is a decrease of 8.3%.

First Year Associates:
Big firm in 2003 67,500-80,000 which is a decrease of 3.1%
Midsized firm in 2003 59,000-72,500 which is an increase of 1.7 % *wow an increase in something!*
Small firm in 2003 42,500-56,000, also an increase, this time of 1.8%

In House folks
4-9 years of experience in 2003 could expect to make between 80,000 and 141,250 which is a decrease of 1.7%
Those with 1-3 years of experience could expect to make between 61,750 and 75,500 which is a decrease of .7%. First years could expect to make between 47,000 and 59,750 which is a decrease of 3.6%.

Paralegals did well in Canada, with high experience levels receiving an increase of 14% at a big firm with a max at 72,500, an increase of 18.4% at a midsized firm with a max at 67,500 and an increase of 12.1% at small firm with a max of 50k.
