I don't snowboard (I ski), but it looks like fun. Telemark skiing doesn't look like fun. At all.

I like boarding clothes better, although I do have speedskating racing suit that doubles as downhill garb.

True. But my white half has overcome my allergic reaction to cold, so when I'm snowboarding, I can keep an eye on you fuckers.*

The people who are good at snowboarding make it look like fun. The people who are just learning make it look like torture.

This has nothing to do with Gwink's boyfriend's penis.

Do you also check the machine for voice mails and call the Tivo/DVR the VCR?

I know -- it's crazy, but I "friend" people I've never met, and whom in some cases I affirmatively dislike!

I do think its crazy you keep having to replace the needles on your hi-fi every 6 months.

I know. But it could be worse--it would be every month if I stuck the hi-fi down my pants while jogging.

ETA: What I mean is you aren't paying them for the bandwidth, so aren't you just really buying software? (Not that I understand how it really works).

Does it have the big cassettes or the little ones? Do they even make the little ones anymore (do they make cassettes anymore?)

Can you retrieve your messages remotely? When I had an answering machine, I always had a devil of a time doing that.

Does your message go something like "Believe it or not, Burger isn't at home, Please leave a message at the beep. I must be out, or I'd pick up the phone. Where could I be? Believe it or not, I'm not home."

my current shuffle is like 6 months old.

you know in a cassette deck that was breaking you could hear the wheels squeeking as they turned? I swear I can hear that from my shuffle. NWTF?

They have to switch landline to IP and back, so there's something more.

Compare to skype, where you pay only for calls to/from landlines, but not all internet-based.

I have an answering machine too. No tapes, it's digital. Checking it remotely is an option, but I rarely do as people who want to reach me call my cell.

Exactly. If they don't have my cell number then I don't really need (or perhaps even want) to get their message until I get home.

All I know is I pay like $200 a year, and get unlimited long distance, voice mail, call forwarding, caller ID, conferencing and the ability to check my voice mail online.

That seems worth it.

So, you have an answering machine for the people who don't actually want to talk to you. They just want to leave a message.

Why not turn them on to: http://www.slydial.com/

Are you my brother? Did you recently get a new deal with Internet access but it also meant no more caller ID?
