When did bread become a food enemy anyway? This attitude has always struck me as an Atkins-inspired ridiculous backlash against carbs. I can see why over-processed Wonder white bread might not be the best choice, but who over the age of 14 ever eats that stuff anyway?

i used to like to go to those restaurants occasionally before losing some law firm added weight, because I felt thin in comparision to the other diners, not the case with average trendoid euro-cool places.

As an aside, I was watching the finish on the outdoor station today and I was perplexed by the notion that no one challenges the leader during the final stage. Huh!??! That’s like saying that the Yanquis couldn’t try to score a run in the 9th in the 7th game of the Series or something. Sheeesh, leave it to these stinkin’ cheese-eating surrender monkeys to come up with such a anti-competitive competition.

Not quite true. If Jan had made up enough time to Lance in the time trial to have a serious shot at the yellow jersey, he would have been busting for time bonuses on the Champs-Elysees. He's a gentleman, but still wanted his second Tour. He didn't, so the general rule of "surround yourself with your teammates, stay safe and let the sprinters have at it" prevailed.
