They are one of those bands that I want to like more than I actually do. I've seen them live a few times over the last ten years, saw Dan Auerbach on his solo tour, bought the Blakrok side project CD, etc. I like them well enough, but have never worked up a true passion for them. They are a good blues rock band but I think that I would like them to be both more blues and more rock. I would like life to be more blues and more rock. And call itself blues and constantly announce that it is not blues. I want life to be more like Jon Spencer.

Having not heard of the Keys until now means you probably don't own a TV, as I believe they are the background music for the X-Games, Land Rover and one beer company the identity of which presently escapes me.

You've just made me feel a whole lot better. Thanks.

I'm willing to get a quickie divorce if it means I can continue being a hater.

you're childless right? no divorce necessary.

and it doesn't make you a hater- it means you are incapable of being happy, so you will likely lash out at people.

hank I really could care fucking less what people do and what their deal is shit changes. situations change. you're holding me to a standard that I was like, what, 27? i'm 36. whatever makes one happy carpe diem. the only issue I have is if you don't work to improve oneself. you should always try.

The Brazenette just turned 7. I have been divorced for 4 years.

You do that math.

Oh my god, you are right. I haven't been trying. I should have have been trying. Today is the first day in the rest of my life! A life that is going to be more like Jon Spencer! Except for Plastic Fang. And more Now I Got Worry and Acme than Orange. Raw, visceral, palpably sexual. A Now I Got Worry-era Spencer life, that also has some Fela Kuti thrown in. Rebellious, Afro-funk. Spencer, Kuti and a little Kruder & Dorfmeister for those late nights. I am going to work to improve and embrace my Spencer/Kuti/K&D life! Thank you.

I'm unmarried (worse still, divorced!), childless and unemployed. The trifecta, if you will. And yet, I can't be bothered to care.

To the contrary, I give Mr. Iha mad, almost like ludicrous props for quitting that band at the peak.

I've seen them live a couple times. The flaw in the mixture will always be the egomaniac singer's lack of a voice.

And with this, I'm off to get saucy with the Mrs. for the start of the holiday. Best to all of you on yours.
