I believe a lot of people will find that a quite convenient circumstance. Some might call it a pretext.

I wouldn’t, of course... Unless I was an Admin or GOP operative, in which case I’d use it, and many more drips of information like it, to make this already smelly 2016 investigation and the smelly attempts to thwart investigations since it, look like a big political game where all involved, on both sides, are engaged in unethical and possibly illegal behavior.

Faucet’s going to need a lot of fixing. GOP is cultivating leakers.

ETA: Average Joe doesn’t know what counterintelligence is. But he understands the word “spying.” You keep writing about right and wrong. Like voters will say, “That’s counterintelligence... The good guys.” Those concepts don’t exist here. This is all games. You know that. Reality is what you can make the public believe.

By the way, Ty, might be nice if you sent a PM to Ty@50 forgiving whomever made that sock for any claims you may have?

Liz is great, I love her would vote for but she is as likely to win as Thanos.

The average Joe, or Josephine, has been a lot closer to a military uniform than you ever have.

I think a lot of people will make this calculation - and to be clear, I'm not a Liz backer at this point.

But I saw her run here, and would just not underestimate her in any way. She's the Arya Stark of the race.

Then why does the rank and file military support Trump?

Oh yes they do.

My point was that Average Jo will more often have some real understanding of counterintelligence.

Military has long been heavily Republican, especially in the officer ranks. We are actually finding a shift in the military similar to the general public, where the more educated are becoming more Democratic. The way Trump is treating national security issues is part of that. More of the officers are likely Dems today than 5 years ago, while the enlisted ranks are probably equally Republican.

And my point to Ty was No one cares about this Russia thing. The game was played. It ended in a draw, and the crowd has left the building. If you wish to Monday morning quarterback it now, or cry that Trump's ability to avoid the moral judgment your side thinks he deserves, besides being a pointless conversation, this angle of attack is going to open the Resistance to counterpunches suggesting unclean hands on the part of Ds in the 2016 investigation sufficient to cause voters to think, even more than they do already, that this is just shithead politicians on both sides behaving as shithead politicians do.

It’s about the economy in the end. People are exhausted and annoyed with the power games.

You say that, but why? She could run rings around Trump in discussing how the economy is performing for lower to middle class voters. And to placate the knuckledraggers, yes, she passes the “could have a beer with her” test. I remain totally confused as to why she’s unelectable except for some overestimation if Wall St’s ability to stop her.

So your take is that nobody cares about Russia, but they will care about the investigative tactics? That's strange, even for you (by which I mean a person who automatically credits every right wing conspiracy... has Hillary been indicted for the Clinton Global Initiative yet??).

It didn't seem to be about the economy in 2018. I'd argue it wasn't in 2016 either, but admit there's room to differ.

Don’t take my word for it. Consult the polls. People see this as political.

They’re going to call it spying. I cited the Times. Unlike the Times, the GOP is going to spin that story as spying. Then the right wing spin machine will say, “Look! Our source is the left wing Times. Even they’re investigating the spying.”
