You could suggest that the whistleblower is Schiff's long-lost secret child, trying to please him by helping him take Trump down. Find me the cite where the committee says the whistleblower is Schiff's long-lost secret child! Try to move the goalposts however you like -- there still is not a shred of evidence that Schiff orchestrated the complaint.

You're just not thinking well at the moment.

The article said the committee was advised of the accusations before the filing. Ok, well, to what extent? Unknown, and relevant. (Unless you've a clinical definition for "bare contours").* The article said also that the committee did not receive the complaint or review it in advance. This means that the method by which it transferred information to Schiff regarding the complaint in advance of its filing must be a method other than

1. By email, text, or other document stating something about the accusations in the complaint;
2. By phone call; or,
3. By direct conversation, in person.

I don't know which it is, but by the committee's own admission, a call came in, and Schiff admits that subsequent to that call, but prior to the complaint's filing, he became aware of the complaint.* So when you say I'm making up the allegation that Schiff knew about the allegations in advance and could have coordinated to ensure that he could "discover" the complaint and make it appear a cover-up, you're talking out of your ass.

The more I think about it, the more I think this actually could've been coordinated, and coordinated very well. By calling committee, WB can tip it off to the complaint. Trump's people will of course seek to cover it up. Committee can then allege not only the crime but a cover-up. If they did that, that's pretty fucking awesome. They almost deserve to see a conviction for that kind of planning and execution.

The article said also that the committee did not receive the complaint or review it in advance. This means that the method by which the committee learned of the allegations in advance - which the committee admits, and therefore I could not be making up - must be a method other than:

1. The sending of the complaint to the committee; or,
2. Showing the complaint to the committee.

So that leaves us with this question: What other way could humans transfer information regarding allegations in the complaint to each other? Well, they can do it three ways that I can think of:

1. By email, text, or other document stating something about the accusations in the complaint;
2. By phone call; or,
3. By direct conversation, in person.

I don't know which it is, but by the committee's own admission, it must be one of those three.* So when you say I'm making it up, you're talking out of your asshole.

You think you're the fact finder here. You crazy arrogant blowhard.

______
* ETA: I've eliminated ESP/telepathic transmission. Only you, His Exalted Omniscient Fact-finder, has that.

Yes, the whistleblower contacted the committee and told the staffer the "bare bones" (that's a quote from your Washington Post article), and the staffer told him or her to go to the IG. Those are the reported facts. None of that is evidence that Schiff "orchestrated" anything, which is the particularly bullshit hill you have chosen to die on.

If I stop you on the street and ask you how to get to the travel agent, and you tell me, that is not evidence that you have planned my vacation. It's possible that you did plan my vacation! But there's no evidence of that. If, for her own f*cked-up purposes, your estranged wife wants to make up a story that you planned my planned my vacation, she can. She can lie about all sorts of things, and some people may believe her, especially if they have suspended their judgment about reality because they have an axe to grind and want to buy what she's selling. But there still is no evidence that you planned my vacation.

It is hypothetically possible that Schiff orchestrated the whole thing, just as it is hypothetically possible that you owe me a million dollars because of a secret agreement we had. But there's no evidence of either, even though you and I communicate with each other all the time.

I thought Trump hired him because he looked good on TV, which is odd considering the mustache. YMMV. You see him and think, where's the rest of the barbershop quartet?

I meant physically and in terms of character. I think I saw him in person once, but I was quite drunk. Or it might’ve been a nightmare.

Correction: It must be noted, he does have a form of integrity. He wants to start horrible wars everywhere and doesn’t hide that desire at all. Ya gotta give him that.

This is a very fair point. He seems to have more integrity than most people in the Administration. He kept telling Trump to bomb people, and so on, and he kept at it even after it became clear that Trump is a bully who doesn't want to get in a fight. So he got himself canned. Someone with less integrity would have told Trump what he wanted to hear.

There’s a line, “The best lack all conviction, while the worst...”

I find this allows me to both feed my ego and justify apathy.

Haven’t watched. Been on phone since Tuesday. Any Perry Mason moments?

ETA: From what I’ve read, Jordan and Nunes are just throwing rocks, and one comment Jordan made re questioning the “person who started it all” got shoved up his ass pretty effectively by D congressman. That’s a bad soundbite for Jordan. But that kind of theatre probably does help Rs. Makes it all look like political squabbling. If you want people to take this seriously enough to create adequate pressure on R senators, Schiff needs to stop making opening statements and Jordan and Nunes need to be ignored enough that the media won’t focus on their cheapening of the process.

Hockey thugs play a role in the game. Nunes and Jordan can be effective in debasing entire process here. But my suspicion is they could take it too far and wind up creating a damning soundbite in which a witness clocks them with a Joseph Welch-like mic drop reply.

I’m more macro in my focus. He strikes me as a thug, as I stated.

I also don’t think one can assess a personality from this hearing. This is all theater. Ds are trying to get a huge moment that sways public opinion, Rs are trying to debase the whole thing. There isn’t a thimble’s worth of genuineness in the room.

This is kind of the problem with politics in an age where everyone is on camera 24/7 and anything can become a meme immediately. Everyone’s an actor at all times.

It’s just hard to watch without snickering and thinking royalists kinda had a point.

I would describe him as very capable and managerial in his style and progressive but incrementalist in his policies. Dukakis but not as fun as Dukakis.

I had thought he had passed over the race because he felt he needed more backing from Obama. He and Obama go way back together - they have a personal relationship, not just a political one. And remember, here in Massachusetts Liz Warren was really completely an Obama creation in politics - she was an academic with no local political history and Obama cleared the field for her Senate run because he wanted her in the Senate. So the local Obama team here has pretty much been all Warren in this election.

My understanding is he's got some significant financial backing for the run. But let's face it, he should have gotten in 6 to 12 months ago, and many, many people who might have supported him have long since been committed elsewhere.

I'm guessing he wants VP or a cabinet position and is signaling to Biden that he can help him with Massachusetts and the black vote generally better than Abrams.

Maybe. I think he'd be an excellent VP choice. And a fine choice for any of several cabinet positions.

Ain't nobody going to help Biden with Massachusetts. Given the jump Warren has, and the Bernie-or-bust support in some quarters, it will be a challenge for Biden to even place in Massachusetts with Patrick in the race.

Everyone (especially Ty) should know that if the first number in your photo's dimensions is bigger than 900, find a smaller version.

For example, this is 800 x 384:
