haven't you heard of the volcano obama has ignored?

Now that you mention it, the volcano makes travel to most of the European cities kind of risky. If the ash plume blows over Europe and grounds flights again, the long weekend could turn into a longer stay.

What about Canada or Alaska?

In August, it might be cool, but you can check that. Otherwise, yeah. It is the most european of the SA cities. Rio is striking, but more of a scene than romantic and the beaches would be empty in August.

I would recommend Cartagena, Columbia. It is lovely, perfectly safe, great food, great people that really like to see tourists returning after 20 years, has beaches, would be warm, and is way cheaper than Europe.

I think the volcano is calming down. I am going to Edinburgh for a long weekend in a few weeks and I will be totally pissed if I get grounded (not that Edinburgh isn't lovely).

That looks beautiful. How warm and is it a dry heat?

Best. SATC2 review. Ever. No pics, but the language is as NSFW as it gets.

Great city. Cheap, great food. Cheap shopping. Cheap cabs. Lots to see. But it makes no sense to go in August.

Go to Montreal. That's a great, easy city.

The temps appear to be quite high, although dry:

Quote:

The weather in summer in Cartagena is typically very hot with little to no rainfall. Summer temperatures in Cartagena will mostly be between 25 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius during the day. Temperatures at night in the summer in Cartagena rarely drop below 15 degrees Celsius.

In August Cartagena weather can be almost unbearably hot with some days reaching 40 degrees Celsius or more. Fortunately on most days you will most likely have cooling sea breezes.

Because Cartagena's humidity is low you won't feel the temperature is as high as it really is. Do take precautions and keep out of the sun between 12 o'clock and 3 o'clock. Always wear a high sun cream factor especially if you are on Cartagena's beaches.

If you are renting or hiring a villa or apartment in Cartagena in the summer you may well want to look to rent a villa or apartment with air conditioning or at least one with fans otherwise you may have trouble sleeping at night, especially if you are coming on holiday from a northern European country where the temperatures are much lower.

Cartagena weather in June, July, August and September: Cartagena weather is usually very hot during the day with average temperatures in the high 20's with virtually no rainfall in these months (with the exception of September). Most days are clear and sunny and nights are warm to hot. To dress for the June, July, August and September weather in Cartagena bring T-shirts and shorts and perhaps a light top and long trousers for evening wear (for June and September). The sea temperatures in June, July, August and September are very high in case you are planning a trip to the coast.

But after seeing the replay from other angles, as Hank and GGG said, that call was not even close. What a fucking moron.

Fuck a do-over. That was the final out. MLB should overturn the call, declare the game over and give the kid his perfect game.

TM

C'mon, we all know the umps/refs need to call the game tighter when the stakes are higher.

Quebec, too - much smaller but intensely cute little city.

You have a young 'un, right? I don't know how many times I have to tell you people this, but Tremblant, an hour north of Montreal, is absolute, unbelievable kid heaven in the summer. advert here Putting a week in Tremblant sandwiched between a couple long weekends in Montreal or one in Montreal and one in Quebec is pretty ideal.

Milan is inferior to the other two IMHO. I would choose Paris.

The only problem is that a lot of stuff in Paris closes in August, including a number of the restaurants where I would go for a celebration.

The upside, though, is that all of the Parisians leave during August to go on vacation.

Very useful for planning a 4 night, 3 day trip.

But, I agree with Montreal or Quebec as a good alternative. Can you fly nonstop from MIA to YQB?
