Hey -- I like the sound of that!! (And that's sure not to make any top 100 lists....)

You are all correct -- to have the same name as a medication is a definite buzz-kill.

I don't even know India's last name (the PR tart/singer). So I'm not sure if it's the same one. The one I'm thinking of was openly going out with Juan Gonzalez (the baseball player) while he was married (and not to her). The same way Camilla Parker-Bowles is a tart!

which reminds me of the time my father was in the hospital, and his obviously pregnant nurse was in the room. My father asked if it was a boy or a girl. Girl, she said.
He asked if she had picked a name and she said yes, Kloreen. And I said, like the bleach?
And she said no, not Clorox, Kloreen, K-L-O-R-E-E-N. And then I said well isn't that....nevermind.

Not sure about her IQ, but she has money, connections through her own career and her ex-hubby, a nice body and many people find her to be good looking. Perhaps Ashton is a complete Einstein for snatching her up -- it isn't likely to hurt his career any. I do not think that he is quite the extreme fool that he portrays himself as, but he doesn't look exceptionally bright. He is not, IMHO, that attractive and I think she could have found someone more attractive with a better resume. She has power while he has a played out show on MTV -- maybe she likes it that way. Above-the-neck notwithstanding, you should check out some of his Calvin Klein ads. He's not so bad. Better than her, with the plastic surgery, caps, implants, lipo (yes lipo), and she has no waist.

Ashton Kutcher has a degree in engineering from Purdue.

I'm sure that those of you who attended schools such as Notre Dame and Michigan will agree that this does not in any way negate the thesis that he's an idiot, but it is considered by many to be a good school.

Oh: more fun odd names that I like but probably wouldn't inflict (mostly in the trad. scottish vein):
Cormac
Mael Coluim (old spelling)
Cinead
Gillecrist
Muiredach
Dairmuid

And, the 12th C. spelling of a much maligned boys name: Morgann/Morgant

edited to change my phonetic pronun. of India.

See? If you didn't know.... I'm hoping that sufficiently few people know about the tart/pop star (I think that may be a tautology) so that I won't have to cross it off the hypothetical, and likely unnecessary, list.

I think of Wilkes too. But GWTW and the British pronunciation are fairly close. In fact, it's darned near impossible to say India without slipping into "IN-jah" -- even in "Southern"!

No, no, no. This is all hypothetical -- but since the hypothetical will only come true if I win the lottery and can have loads more kids, I will be rich, and therefore will have to turn into a fake fancy person - a la Madonna - and affect a British accent.

Besides, it's not "injure" (IN-jer), but IN-jah (as in "jah rasta").

The chick I knew named India was raised in the old empire, and the UMC English officer corps/civil-servant abroad pronunciation involved a distinct swallowing of the last vowel, which made it sound rather a lot like a vague "er." I think her accent was different than SBE, though. I've found there is a weirdly distinct "colonial service" accent, or was about 50 years ago. It is the accent I've always associated with the name, but that is just me.

The Wilkes/US/southern pronunciation is definitely "jah," except to people who think it is pronounced like the country.

Have you ever been to a doctor's office? Okay, my doctor's office. This was after I made it through the months old SI, the Outdoor Sportsman, the Skin Disease quarterly, the What You Should Know About Genetal Warts, four issues of Highlights (love that Goofus and Gallant) and the aformentioned Thanksgiving cookie recipe in the Ladies Home Journal or something like that. God I hate my doctor.

Actually, In Style isn't so bad. Its better than a lot of the alternatives. In the waiting room I'd pick it over Glamore or Vogue (but not Cosmo - where else would I learn about what the oposite sex thinks I'm thinking?). It doesn't really pretend to be about anything but style, and seems to make some effort to not exclusively cover couture. Plus it has just page after page of babes sorted by attire type.

"They just think I'm a strange tiger who walks on two legs."

"We watch and observe. We talk to them, take walks with them, swim with them, meditate with them. Day by day, we learn about each other. But you must have patience and respect for Mother Nature. Because when an animal gives you its trust, you feel like you have been given the most beautiful gift in the world."

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...ack_roy_horn_6

Poor inbred mutant tiger Montecore had to live with sayings like these, uttered by a duo of stripperglittered manpixies, uttered on a daily basis for every one of his tormented six years. Is it any wonder that he finally snapped? Roy has been quoted as saying he wants no harm to come to Montecore as a result of the attack. But can man who says "ff-fuff, ff-fuff" as his special friendship sound really be trusted? Absolutely not. It is time to tell Fishbacher & Horn and their hired goons to just STOP IT!

I am pleased to announce the formation of the Society To Offer Protection for Inbred Tigers! (STOP IT!). Our initial aim is to free Montecore, currently being held unjustly in the F&H cult's Las Vegas compound, and reintegrate him back into society, hopefully even among Tigers of color. But Montecore is only the beginning. STOP IT! hopes to free all of the felines currently being held unconstitutionally by the F&H cult.

I post this on the lawtalkers board because of STOP IT!'s 2 urgent needs - money (feel free to IM, PM, or email your credit card information to me) and top flight legal talent. STOP IT! is seeking dynamic, energetic, and committed attorneys willing to toss aside their careers for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fight to establish new feline freedoms in what is sure to be high profile, cutting edge civil and animal rights litigation. All inquiries will be kept in fairly strict confidence. Sign up today and make the F&H cult STOP IT!

In retrospect, that was a boring exercise. And that's just generals, I didn't bother with colonels, also popular. I even left out names that I think were probably introduced here as surname-conversions around this time but were not-unheard-of first-names abroad, like Vaughn, Scott, & Marmaduke. I'll bet you are somewhat surprised that (i) some of those names are such recent innovations as first names and (ii) some of those names have been around as first names as long as they have. I was.

It's that the guy is under the impression that it is "his clan's" tartan. There are honorary tartans for all Americans, regardless of heritage, and may for state residents, too. But the Lipschitz are not a sept of the Lamonts, no matter what the clerk in the kilt shop told him.

Hack this

I have never downloaded music. I do not condone the practice of downloading music, but really, this isn't really a hack if it's that simple.

Oct. 7 — A Princeton University student has published instructions for disabling the new anti-copying measures being tested on CDs by BMG — and they’re as simple as holding down a computer’s Shift key.
IN A PAPER PUBLISHED on his Web site Monday, Princeton Ph.D. student John Halderman explained how he disabled a new kind of copy-protection technology, distributed as part of a new album by BMG soul artist Anthony Hamilton.
Under normal circumstances, the antipiracy software is automatically loaded onto a Windows machine whenever the Hamilton album is run in a computer’s CD drive, making traditional copying or MP3 ripping impossible. However, simply holding down the Shift key prevents Windows’ AutoRun feature from loading the copy-protection software, leaving the music free to copy, Halderman said.
The technique was confirmed by BMG and SunnComm Technologies, the small company that produces the anti-copying technology. Both companies said they had known about it before releasing the CD, and that they still believed the protection would deter most average listeners’ copying.

They underestimate people who steal.

The complaints objected to Bono's uttering the phrase "this is really, really, f------ brilliant."

The FCC, using the F-word more often to explain its decision than Bono did on the air, said the word "may be crude and offensive, but, in the context presented here, did not describe sexual or excretory organs or activities." That distinction is a key test to measure whether a statement meets a federal standard for broadcast indecency.

David Solomon, chief of the FCC's enforcement bureau, said in the ruling that Bono used the vulgarity as an adjective or to emphasize an exclamation and that "the use of specific words, including expletives or other 'four-letter words' does not render material obscene."

http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news/1003/07bono.html

First: since when can you use fuck to describe excretory organs?

Second: you can say fuck as an adjective or to emphasize and not get into trouble. WTF? I thought fuck was a no-no, period.
The FCC more progressive than infirmation? Holy fucking cow.
