 |  Sort of.  It is a little more complex.  There were four boxes left - $500K, $50K, $500, and $75.  If she picks the $500K one (as she did), her next offer drops precipitously to $25K (which she took), but had she picked the $75 or $500 boxes, her offer would have gone up to the $180,000 range, but she would have still needed to avoid the other two low boxes in her next two rounds to end up with the full $500K.  My statistics is too rusty to figure out the exact permutations, but the way it was set up, the guaranteed $138K was the way to go. |
