How is John King's report that officials were looking for a suspect that was "dark skinned" not calling the suspects dark-skinned?

Exactly.

By the way, I understand we live in a world of 24 hour news coverage that must be filled with any kind of information at all. I understand that being the first to break a story (or even better, to carry an exclusive) is a big deal in your isolated fucking world of "journalism." But that kind of statement creates a very serious issue for every single person (especially of Arab descent) within a 20 mile radius of the incident. If you're going to say something like that (and I don't know why you would because that kind of broad description is not fucking helpful in the slightest), you better have had it checked over every which way possible.

John King got almost everything wrong yesterday. He will not be held to account by CNN, the authorities or anyone who isn't currently dark-skinned and within 8 inches of a microphone. And the only reporting on this is that Al Sharpton is upset about it? This shit is fucking tiresome.

I don't disagree, but what the NY Post did to those teenagers from Revere was worse.

I think the problem is that journalists can't provide opinion without getting kicked to the op/ed page. So they are happy to have Sharpton provide the opinion, which is magically converted to news. Although why Sharpton is the only source of opinion on this I don't know.

I agree with all of this. It has nothing to do with my post to Ty, but I do agree with it.

Generally? It's close. If the Post had the same kind of national and international impact, it would be waaaay worse.

For those two guys specifically? I agree with you 100%.

Ha ha ha ha! There is no line between news and opinion anymore. You're living in the 80s.

Either way, the story that John King got almost everything completely fucking wrong is based on fact. No need to express an opinion. State the facts and the impact of his words. You don't need Al Sharpton for that.

Why is it that the story is: A black dude is angry about John King announcing that the Boston bomber suspect is "dark skinned" and not that: John King is a fucking idiot?

Jesus fucking Christ.

TM

I've been thinking John King is an idiot. Along with Glenn Beck, Ben Davis, an virtually anyone who has a radio talk show. Including Al Franken.

It's pretty amazing. The guy made famous for being wheeled toward help with gruesome and devastating wounds to both legs apparently was among the first to help identify the bombers.

Fair enough. Sharpton will be presenting his views as news on Chris Matthews tonight.

I was pointing to an analogy, not asking if I should put cheese on my hot dog. If you and coltrane both ordered one, how might they differ, or if I was in line listening to 5 people order, what choices might I hear?
