Dissent. It's an algorithm that starts with the depth of the old relationship but also factors in the intensity of the new relationship and the degree of frustration with the old relationship. Good sex can really shorten the time frame. Bad sex lengthens it.

I'll cede my time to Leonard Cohen, who addressed this question, incredibly enough, in a 1993 Q&A from Details magazine:

How long does it take to recover from a bad relationship?
S.T. (Baltimore, MD)
You never recover from a bad relationship.

(he's not wrong)

With all due respect to Mr. Cohen, I find it far more difficult to recover from a good relationship than a bad one.

At least long enough to tell us about the big move the ex-LMA made to get you back!

If the sex is great, I am far more likely to move on quickly than when the sex had been absent for a period of time.

As for relationships, yes, it's far harder to recover from a good relationship than a bad one.

Since in this case I am moving on from a bad relationship with really great sex, within two days of realizing I was done-done with the nonsense, I was with someone new.

Hussy!

Or, instead, I don't think it matters what anyone else thinks is an appropriate amount of time.

Thank you. Yea, it was just awful. I can't believe how happy I am that it's over.

I like to have some kind of rebound sex as soon as possible, but I'm not sure that counts as diving back in. About 2 months. I took longer after my separation/divorce.

I didn't know they could spread from apartment to apartment. I get the creepy crawlies just thinking about it. So glad for you it's over.

Maybe you should give Lester's link to the travelling neighbor you think brought in the infestation.

Very Short Story

I don't know how many of you are on twitter, though I know some of you are (hi, y'all!). I follow @veryshortstory and it's as it sounds, a short story in fewer than 140 characters.

Here is today's vss, appropos of something:
Years later, sitting alone in his mansion, with no one to hold him, it finally hit him. "This is what she meant."
You can also check him out on the web.

Oh, we've all seen her naked. Not really outable. She's the slut of the FB.

Which, in our little world, also makes her the queen of the FB. And the Most. Respected. Person. of the FB. And stuff.
