If you have a strong backcourt (and MSU surely does), there is no need to worry about UNC this year. Their guards are going to get eaten up by the better guards in the NCAA.

I agree with this. If you break up and it's unexpected, that takes a long time to get over (or longER, anyway). If you've been limping along and it's really been over a long time, and you just pull the plug, then less.
