Make that a 3. By my reading the statute would have banned Bambi Meets Godzilla, and Alito would just have read an "animated violence" exception just to save it from overbreadth.

I highly doubt that song is in your top ten, but won't put up too much of an argument since I'm sad that one of the most underrated MCs in the history of hip hop is gone.

O.K., I was swayed a bit by emotions, and as soon as I posted that, I quickly came up with ten other songs that would edge it out. But it is a song I always come back to when I think of the power of a couple of turntables and an MC. It is the opposite of auto-tuned, hyper-produced songs with soaring diva vocals and fake strings swelling in the background, and I love it for that.

Not so much, but I enjoy the Gyoto Monks when the mood is right (ot-pay ;);)). I am not against hyper-produced. Public Enemy was hyper-produced. But Gang Starr was a testament to the fact that you don't need to be hyper-produced to create great music. I realize that my Guru tribute is becoming more of a Premier tribute, which is ironic given the unkind things Guru apparently said on his death bed. Anyway, shouldn't you be inebriated and listening to Jawbreaker by now?

I'm with you. But most of the stuff I listen to is from that era or before, so I'm becoming one of those old coots who talks about how kids don't know a thing about hip hop these days.

Presumably it would have made the dog-fighting scene in The Wire illegal.

But not the rape scene in The Sopranos. Go figure.

Huh.

I found this interesting in that article - "Criminologists also believe that the emergence of mephedrone is related to the decreasing purity of ecstasy and cocaine on sale in the UK, with average cocaine purity falling to 22% in 2009 (from 60% in 1999) and about half of ecstasy pills seized in 2009 containing no MDMA."

Agreed. The practice itself leaves me flat. And soft.

I was up at 3am (after a night of way too much beer) chasing a mouse around my bedroom, that had gotten in from the backyard yesterday.

In light of that experience, I'm rethinking my position on crush videos.
