Also, perhaps you have not heard, but we are judgment-free around here, mister.

You know, the office holiday party is coming up. Have you set up any ground work with the paralegal?

We had lots of open space, expansive nearby forests, a dozen neighborhood kids, and every one of those dozen had a couple balls of some sort, whether big round basketballs or small hard baseballs.

We also had lots of farm animals to keep us entertained.

But very few "toys" in the sense of stuff from Toys R Us (I don't even know where one was anywhere in the country).

But Hank would have loved it.

Are you sure about the placement of the last sentence?

(2) No, she does not always get what she wants, but this is a fairly innocuous and harmless toy, and not even all that expensive if it can be found for retail price. (The hamsters can be had for $8 a piece at Walmart). I don't think there is anything wrong with a kid really, really wanting something for the holidays (or for a birthday) and actually getting it, so long as it's not prohibitively expensive or dangerous. Hell, she is six. The "life is hard" lesson can come a little later.

And I found a set, thanks to the handy dandy zhu zhu tracker I mentioned earlier.

Cite please?

Also, on rationales for these things, they are better than having to buy real hamsters or any other such third tier pet (guinea pigs, rabbits, rats, moles, snakes, turtles, et al)

They're stratospherically expensive, but since you dig that style face, you might enjoy checking out this maker's women's collection. They make similar styles: http://www.franckmullerusa.com/collection

Yep. Worst shop around, but sometimes the lego (and play-mo-beel) sales draw me in.

It's a Mercedes SLR remote control car she got at some going out of business sale, and I swear - the thing must go 150 mph, scale speed. I got a headful of gin on last Friday and played with the thing until my wife finally demanded I shut it off. You can get it ripping down an expanse of tile and then throw it into a fishtail spin on a dime and the damn thing moves so fast if it hits you, it hurts. Thing's powerful enough to push the living room doors open if they're just a bit ajar.

My best friend was the most spoiled kid in the world. At one point we got into radio controlled cars. They cost over $100 for the car kit (even more for the nicer cars). And then you had to buy the controller, battery, paint, etc. Very expensive toys. At Christmas, he got fucking three of them. I saved up for weeks working my part time job and bought this one:

Even though I had to wait to buy all the rest of the stuff it went with, it was worth every dime. You have to build them, which is a lot of fun by itself. You could switch out the tires for off-road or on-road racing. And I eventually bought a black engine so it would go superfast. And if you think your little car goes fast, buy one of these. I was devastated when someone broke into our apartment and stole it. I would actually buy one now just for the fun of putting it together again. Then I could be the loser who plays with radio controlled cars.

My friend had The Bruiser, which, although huge, looks like a lot more fun than it was.

All of this is, of course, a long way of suggesting, if you still like trains, go see what they have at the toy store now. For $100 you can probably pick up a bullet train set that'll go around your house faster than a 911.

Don't really care about trains. They were just so cool when I was a kid.

Bedat is only about 12 years old. Still Swiss made, though. Owned by Gucci, which, IMO, is a bad sign. How much is this thing? Probably too much for a quartz watch.

I also think the design is too "out there" for an expensive watch, and that you'll eventually get sick of it, or it will go out of style (if it's indeed in style). It looks like a fashion watch to me. I'm sure you can get something very similar that isn't Swiss for a tenth of the price.

None. I just googled the lady whose face was ripped off by a monkey.

what, about $7k (or more, if you're paying rack rate b/c you like the jeweler)?

I don't love bedat, generally, and think that expensive quartz watches are sort of ... odd, but that *is* a v. attractive piece. Definitely more bracelet than watch, imo.
