I have worn gas permeable (hard) contacts since 1987 (not the same pair, but the same type) but lately my eyes have been exceedingly sore. Moreover, I cannot read road signs, I squint at my computer screen, and I cannot read the clock or channel on my T.V. I could not even tell that Ralph Fiennes had a hairlip when watching Red Dragon--I was very confused about the plot because of this until I mentioned to my companions, "Why is Ralph Fiennes complaining about his face?"

The optometrist claims that the reason my prescription does not allow me to actually see is that the lenses curve my eyes so that he cannot get a proper reading unless I don't wear the contacts for two weeks prior to the appointment. I would gladly do this, except my glasses prescription is even more archaic and I can't drive, read, or even exist without getting an extreme headache if I try to wear them. I think I want to try soft contacts. Has anyone here gone from gas permeable to soft lenses? As I recall, back in the day gas permeable were my only option due to my astigmatism and the football shape of my eyes (as opposed to spherical).

I don't wear glasses and I didn't know Ralph Fiennes had a hairlip in Red Dragon. His character was badly defined and the whole Blake poetry obsession was a pathetic attempt to mimic the high-browness of the butterfly collector muderer in Silence of the Lambs.

Another sequel that shouldn't have been made, yet MILES better than Hannibal. Hannibal degraded into a comic horror farce like Serial Mom. I scanned the credits afterward to make sure Waters didn't have an exec producer credit. All existing copies of that movie should be burned.

There is no apparent Ricky Martin connection, but a good guess. The accompanying article explains that Finola Hughes (can you say "one of these things is not like the other" )and her husband met Penske at some art event or the like (Finola's husband is an artist)-- but who knows, I've already forgotten. As for everyone else, they all met each other through other childhood friends from all the best schools in NY. The metrosexual, a former model, is the grandson of Maurice Villency (who was a Scot, who knew?) and now runs that furniture co.

Uh, and now that I'm looking at it, it was banned quite a bit before I was even a twinkle in my parents' eyes. Which makes me wonder what the cause of the birth defects of a girl I went to high school was -- I had always thought it was thalidomide, but she was way too young if it was banned in the 60s.

New Reality TV Show

I've got a concept, now I just need some help with the implementation. Fox will want it if they haven't come up with it yet. I call it (drum roll) Divorced by America. In it, America gets to go inside the households of some people with really fucked up relationships and then votes for who is most worthy of a divorce. Is it the banker who "works late" every night with his secretary while mom takes care of 3 bratty kids? The childless couple who have stopped speaking to one another other than the occassional passive aggressive insult? Or the couple that screams at each other in front of their kids every night as the family watches reality tv with their tv dinners? You be the judge...

In the end, Fox will pay legal fees for one lucky couple to get the hell away from one another (and throw in separate vacations to sweeten the pot), but if they ever try to reconcile, Fox will send them the bill.

n(also Fox should throw in makeovers, and a scene where all the women get to run gleefully to look at dresses for their possible divorce day)cs
