I'm done with defending myself to someone calling me a country club voter. What's the point? Whatever I say, it'll be met with more angry shit.

I'm tired of defending myself to the right and the left. I hear the arguments from both sides. Really, I get it. The right tells me I didn't care about the working stiffs getting fucked in the economy, and oddly, that because I didn't back their guy, I don't deserve what Trump will bring. Well, I am pretty fucking sure that I don't deserve that, at all. The left barks about the sky falling, and that I'm a traitor for knowing better and not doing the right thing. They're being dramatic and more than a bit obnoxious.

How's a guy to win here? I've explained that I had no choice. And I'm not going to dignify anyone telling me I should be more frightened, upset, or horrified. I might be at some point. I just as well might not. I'll do as Chapelle suggested and see what happens.

In fact, if I had believed you every time in the last six months you said something would absolutely certainly happen, I would be pretty mad at you right now. Fortunately for our friendship, I pretty much disregard all of your predictions. In fact, I figured out that the main reason you like going commando so much is so that your voice is less muffled when you start declaring things like "Hillary will take Pennsylvania by 6!"

That is a fair criticism. I should stop with this political predicting and become an economist, where I'd be at least of average skill.

I had a nightmare about it once. Thankfully, without a segue worth recalling, it quickly morphed into an orgy.

You must be able to come up with something better than this.

I think Trump's going to play it as simply as possible: For every loon, we get an establishment sort. Keep things balanced between cuckoo and cronyist.

Steve Bannon is to be the most senior adviser in the West Wing. Trump has renewed him pledge of mass deportation. This outreach to the black community is to double down on stop and frisk. But sure, he's said maybe it's a wall and not a fence and he's suggested keeping the good parts of Obamacare, which doesn't work at all.

Meanwhile, the speaker of the house is promising to dismantle Medicare and Medicaid.

Maybe he will still moderate, but we're not seeing it to any meaningful degree yet. And Reince Priebus is a worm.

In fairness, you were in good company with many of your voting predictions, which is part of the reason I take no comfort when people tell me what will not occur in a Trump presidency. Which is why I think people should stop saying things like, "They'll never overturn Roe v. Wade." Or "He's not really going to prosecute Hillary." Because nobody knows what is going to happen.

Not. Even. Trump.

Think about it. Or don't. I actually have been trying not to, because all the hyperventilating is getting people worried.

Well, the President-elect says he's going to appoint judges who will over turn Roe. So, ya know.

Granted, he also thinks gay marriage is stare decisis. I have no idea where he thinks he'd find a judge with a judicial philosophy that would decide those two that way.

You can cite all the planks from Hillary's platform regarding retraining, and education, or whatever other superficial fix she offered, all day long, but that was the shit sandwich Trump voters would be receiving. And they knew it. They'd be getting more job losses, and lower wages, assuaged with safety nets rather than addressed with policies directed at producing credible domestic economic growth.

Now, we can argue about whether those folks deserve what they're getting, which many of them do. And we can argue how much Trump is full of shit in his belief he can bring them back jobs. (I'd say far more than not.) But what's not up for debate is that your party sold stagnation. For years, two thirds of the country has been stating it believes we are on the wrong track. The Democrats' campaign promise? More of the same! But it's somehow still Gary Johnson's fault. Give me a fucking break.

This post is hilarious, as usual.

Choices: Investment in industries that will compete going forward and job training in those industries (if people would vote against the assholes blocking all of that) or magically taking us back to the good old days with protectionist policy for jobs that are completely fucking gone.

Sure "we can argue" about these things. But why would we? The message 4 out of 5 morons prefer is: Magical High Paying Jobs for Life for Everybody!

Stop whining like a little bitch.

You act like you come here to give us insight that we can't see when you're almost always talking out of your ass. When we point out all of the ass-talking, you think you're being attacked.

Again, no one gives a shit if you're frightened, upset, or horrified. When people think you're wrong, they say so. When Greedy or Wonk disagrees with me, they let me know. When I disagree with them, I let them know. It's the same for everyone here. People do not single you out because you're you, snowflake. They disagree with what you post because what you post is disagreeable.

So put on your pull-ups and stop complaining. Or don't. "How's a guy to win here." That's rich. No one fucking wins here. It's the politics board.

The alternative you offer above is a variant of the "Everything can be fixed with education" argument. Well, allow me to retort: Robots. (And continued globalization.) Trot out some more rusty iron next time.

Who's the true moron in this trainwreck? The candidate who realized the public was largely morons and sold them what they wanted, or the stuffed suit who sold a voting public 66% of whom wanted change: "I'll give you more of the same!" She wasn't even creative enough to argue, "I know you want change, but things are beginning to move in the right direction, and I'll improve on the current situation."

No kidding, but you've got to play the hand you dealt yourself.

I've tried to engage with you, but you either don't respond or you change the subject. I guess you just must be worn out.

Just to be specific, I think it's pretty obvious that Trump is a disaster from a libertarian perspective, unless "libertarian" is a code word for "rich dude who wants to pay less taxes." Which, to be fair, is often the case. Your response was to say something about Hillary being an equal threat to liberty, without explaining what you mean. Which, to be fair, would have been seriously hard. GGG then called you a country-club Republican, suggesting that you just care about your taxes. So you go off on something about "managed decline." In context, that was a Trumpian non-sequitur. Post all day about managed decline if you've got something to say, but don't pretend you were actually responding to the thread. You were changing the subject.
