Hold. On.

So this is the work of Penske, posing as a sock who is not quite convincingly posing as a post-Penske recincarnation of the original? This is positively Hitchcockian!

Well, Cabrera shouldn't have been called out on that phantom strike, either, so the ump didn't have a great couple of innings.

dude- if you want to go that way, look at the called third on Polanco- far inside- at least if that box means anything.

is the box accurate, or a guestimate? i mean, how is it adjusted for the batters size as an example?

Detroit ain't bitching about the non-call.

I'm not making excuses for you or accusing you of whining. I'm simply saying the umpire missed a call that could have changed the game considerably.

Only saw the last bit of the game. What happened? Did the ump lose count or are you saying it was a bad strike call?

Did you just call me Coltrane? 10-07-2009 11:04 AM

TBS, as all the division series and NLCS games will be.

Son of a...I thought I checked TBS. I think I was forced to watch House Hunters instead (which isn't nearly as good as House Hunters International).

And an HBP that was at best a marginal touch of a blousy jersey. Calling that might go beyond even the HBPs when it hits the outsize elbow pads and what not guys wear so they can hang over the plate with impunity.

Anyway, yeah, terrible decision by the left fielder, and a terrible effort to catch it. He was 2 feet wide of the ball anyway when he slid.

Bad strike call. Shoulder high and clearly 4+ inches off the plate. Gardenhire had to come out to get Cabrera b/c he was soo pissed.

And, Hank, I wasn't saying there was any balancing or anything, just that the plate ump was blowing multiple calls. Don't recall the Polanco strike, but that's just one more bad call among several.

At least it appears they have the volume properly adjusted. Last year the first few games sounded like there was no crowd. Which is as bad as Fox's decision to make even a quiet Monday night regular season crowd sound like Game 7.

It ran late so the guide for TBS showed "The Office" for the next 12 hours. Threw me off, too.

.

Is that the one where he gave a little kick towards the ball, as if he were trying to deny the low-post entry pass?

A mild screwing as only his rather baggy jersey seems to make contact with the ball, but yes, without human error, they would have scored on that pitch.

I don't think that even the most ardent Twins fan honestly believes you have much to worry about. But it will definitely be fun if you do.
