Well, sure, as long as it's next to the rusty car on cinderblocks!

Yup. I saw the wedding pictures to prove it:

My uncle had a shotgun wedding in the backyard of his bride's father's house. It is still my favorite of all of our family weddings.

Poor Robust Puppy had to hold the gun herself. Surely Daddy DTB did the honors at her nuptials. Or maybe one of her sons!

For light duty trucks, average horsepower has increased by 99 percent and average weight increased by 26 percent over this period. But there’s more to this story: in 1980, light truck sales were roughly 20 percent of total passenger vehicles sales — in 2004, they were over 51 percent.

Just be careful. It starts with Dutch Ovens and before anyone knows what's going on, it's the Hot Plates... then the Cleveland Steamers.

(Somebody had to do this.)

Agreed. Although it might have been more subtle to allude to the fact that Dutch Oven sounds a bit like a sexual metaphor without actually spelling it out. But I don't want to armchair quarterback here.

I tried teasing it out in a few previous posts. No dice. Then I considered using a Portnoy's Complaint reference (the glass table scene involving the hooker). Too obscure.

I settled for blunt and sophomoric. Say what will about the hamfistedness, everyone likes ham. And fists.

Lice

I know I will induce psychosomatic head itching in all of you, but . . .

Should you or your children get head lice, there is no substitute for thorough picking of all lice, nymphs and eggs.

I'll say that again: There is no substitute for thorough picking of ALL lice, nymphs and eggs.

Over the counter lice treatments kill some of the live bugs. Prescription lice treatments kill a higher percentage of the live bugs. NONE of these chemical treatments kill the unhatched eggs. NONE. That means repeated treatments with toxic chemicals to kill all the bugs who've hatched since the last treatment.

Lice combs get some of the bugs, but not all, especially the tiny nymphs, and don't touch the eggs. The eggs have to be scraped off between your fingernails or, if the hair is long, removed with the individual strand by snipping it next to the scalp.

There is a guy in Utah who has developed a special blow dryer that desiccates all the eggs, but it is not yet available on the market.

My oldest son has gotten lice twice. The first time I discovered it very quickly, and there were only a few eggs to pick. The second time he had a well-established infestation, with tens of live bugs and hundreds of eggs. Both times, I painstakingly removed all the lice, nymphs and eggs, and that was that. No chemicals. No recurrences. Done.

Needless to say, I highly recommend this approach. I also recommend not being ashamed about lice, since shame and silence help them spread.
