Perhaps he can get some help from Landon Donovan.

ETA: Okay, so you fixed it or I was hallucinating.

I totally did not see that coming. Instead, I guessed that Pete Seeger was a friend of your father's and that he frequently came over to regale you and your siblings with American roots music in your living room. As Manute Bol used to say, my bad.

He only sang in our living room once, and I'd say he was a mere passing acquaintance of dad's. He didn't really drink enough to be one of dad's close friends.

I hear that. But VIP sounds like the way to go. Do like it was a fat gold chain and put it on hip hop layaway.

Is he going to the movie theatre simulcast tonight?

Nah. I don't think he'd be able to watch it in such conditions. 90 percent of his concert experience is from backstage (former roadie), and most of his metal youth was spent banging arond in the mosh pit. Stadium seating in HD with surround sound would just be weird, especially in public.

I'm curious whether the other metal heads will venture out.

(Jeez...they cannot even spell my moniker correctly; must be using their chris- or paigow-branded spell checker).

Hope all are enjoying this (terribly hot in DC already today) summer.

That was an emotionally exhausting experience.

I just learned that the ESPN radio cast is about a minute or more behind, so I was still sitting at my desk, head in my hands, having my own personal freak out when a colleague comes in to celebrate. It was a confusing few moments. Man, that was tense. Saturday, 2:30 EST. Germany, Ghana, or Serbia.

I learned that slightly earlier because the radio was also behind the ESPN "live chat" It turned to jibberish about a minute before the radio announcers went crazy. Or at least the american one. The one with the british accent sounded slightly resigned to a match with Die Mannschaft, and a recognition that England fares as well in its national sport against Germany as Germany does in its against England.
