I like Goodreads. The reviewers seem to leave the house a bit more.

Obviously it's very good at giving other people what they want, because it's market cap is north of $511 billion just now.

So I should divorce my wife?

If she ever tells me to have a “blessed day,” I might.

It was, but these days you see the same tweets at the top of your timeline every time to check it.

At the end of the day, even when they optimize to the user you have the classical music problem. Classical musical listeners are a tiny fraction of the overall music audience, but they listen to music differently than most other listeners, just because the unit of a "song" doesn't make sense. For the music industry, it is just not worth catering to that community on-line, so there is no platform that does it well.

If you want something other than mass-market cable-TV level analysis or interaction - so you're willing to read a long article, and don't want a slide-show buzzfeed clickthrough to get your info - you're a classical music listener.

Probably shouldn't tell you that Tiny Baby* and I regularly "listen" to classical music by me putting my classical playlist on shuffle.

Yeah, we're not real classical music listeners.

*She's neither really tiny nor a baby anymore, but I haven't come up with new internet branding.

I know classical composers who regularly listen like this. Because it is what the technology tells us to do.

It's owned by Amazon, so don't expect the platform (as opposed to the users) to do anything different.

to pass on a question- if this gets one transferred, what does it take to get fired? My question- shouldn't NYC worry of the johnny Appleseed effect here?

Throgg's Neck has been a problem back since one of my ancestors was Sheriff of Vlissingen over across the River. You don't want to let Throggs off the Neck, who knows what they'll do.

Actually, both Goodreads and LT do have different platforms for things like recommendations than Amazon, despite the ownership stakes.

But it is kind of F-upped that Big Mama Gorilla in the book world owns both small competitors with each other for the book reading social media audience.

If you think Facebook knows your wife better than you do, definitely. It sounds like they are pumping her the same stuff that they pump to everyone else, so I don't think they know her very well.

You should thank your lucky stars there is a woman who will put up with you.

Apropos of nothing, I saw today that Scalia had a bit of colorful advice for young lawyers on arguing in front of a judge: "Don't let a dead horse beat you."

If GWNC finds a woman I would thank my lucky stars if I could see pictures.

So his Weinstein's alleged forced oral sex on Argento (to which she has basically admitted she consented because he would have otherwise "crushed" her career) caused her to statutorily rape a boy actor 20 years her junior 20 years after the alleged Weinstein event? That is pretty tortured.

I did not hear GGG say she exercised no free will.

Pretty sure Sebby can suggest a way to tell us exactly how responsible she was. Because science.
