How about this sad story of how otherwise kind, gentle, and pure police officers are brazenly lured into bad behavior. I must say, I read it and really feel for the poor officers.

And re Asia, I kind of thought that what Rose McGowan said in the article that Less linked to made sense.

Anyhoo, carry on.

I thought Rose McGowan made sense too.

Someone I know, someone I would have called a friend, has been accused of abusing his status for sex, and he, in turn, has accused someone else of sexually harassing/abusing him. Both accusations can stand. You don't need to be a saint to have a legitimate beef about how you are treated. Nor do you have to lead an exemplary life after you've been treated horribly to have been treated horribly.

As for Rose McGowen, I understand the need to sit back and process before coming forward. Like I said, I called him a friend. And at first, I was reluctant to give credence to the accusations (especially since he was giving me backstory before they came to light), but as time passed, I was able to see past my own biases and give his accusers space to come forward and be heard. And just because I believed them doesn't mean I DON'T believe him when he speaks about the abuse he has undergone, especially as others have also spoken of abuse from that person. It really means that everyone involved is really fucked up and it behooves everyone to stay far away from the entertainment/music/PR/publishing industries.

I wish it were just in entertainment/music/pr/publishing, though I think any industry with a "star" system is particularly susceptible.

Stop before you start. Nothing is “tortured” and you’re always wrong in the Bizarro Universe into which you’re stepping.

What the fuck is the actual issue you two are whining about? Are either of you trying to imply that Weinstein didn't commit actual fucking sexual assault? Or is your point that the fact that he used his massive power to gain sexual favors and in fact crushed people's careers who didn't submit isn't really "assault?" Are you saying the #MeToo movement is less legitimate because people are assholes and one of the faces of the movement happens to be a hypocritical one? Or are you just fucking whining generally about political correctness being out of control?

I don't see what the issue is. Weinstein is a fucking lunatic who assaulted people and did tons of terrible shit. He is being held to account. Argento was one of his victims. The fact that she seemed to also do awful shit doesn't somehow eliminate the evil shit Weinstein did. And she is currently being dragged and held to account as well. How the fuck is this all supposed to work in your eyes?

If you assaulted someone with a bat 10 years ago and got away with it and I beat the fuck out of you the next time I see you, does that mean you can't complain about that beating?

Ian is the Shahanshah of the Globalists, the Emperor Globalist to whom the globalist Kings bow down. When some establishment corporatist says "I need to hire me a globalist to consult on international relations or trade", Ian's Eurasia Group is the first call they make.

I think less was merely responding to an apparent ggg attempt to excuse her actions as being inevitable given Harvey's.

I hope harvey goes to jail. But the person in this whole sphere that pisses me off is Mel Gibson. How the fuck is he rehabilitated back into the first 5 rows at the Oscars?

That was the closest post of his for me to grab in the string.

Excellent question. I'm not for some undefined sentence for people to wander the wilderness. But I wouldn't pay to watch any of his work. What always surprises me are these people who say shit like, "If you say something wrong now your career is over!" like there is a secret panel of people policing what you say and then deciding to end your career. The market controls everything else, but when it comes to shit like this, studios and investors are supposed to support projects by people who have turned off the very people who want to buy their products? FOHWTS.

Timing, really. If he did something similar today ... heck, even if it was half as bad.

I turned on the Year of Living Dangerously last week for a while. I loved that movie when it came out. But seeing his face just spoiled it now. Can we get people to remake classic movies without the scumbag stars?

Some good foreshadowing in that movie, come to think of it.

Yes. My original post merely asked questions:

Rank hypocrite, destroyer of #MeToo, or simply another crazy actress?
