Even Tiger, while incredibly long, probably does not normally hit his 9 farther than 160. However, there are longer players than Tiger, they just don't have the accuracy/putting skills to exploit. Tiger's insanity is due to the greens he hits in regulation more than his distance.
I agree with most of your points and would add that because of the loft of a nine iron, being within 10 yards of what the pros hit is really no big deal. If I could pull out my 4 iron and hit it 230 with any regularity, that would be something.

It ccould be done. Seriously, I have seen a "personals" add-on for the software we use. The problem is that people wouldn't really use it for anything other than to make up funny, phoney ads. So, despite the humor value it could have, I doubt we will be adding it.

I don't think we have, as a group, shown enough comedic potential to justify the bandwidth and server space such an endeavor would consume.

Now, if we could restrict it so that humorless twits like myself couldn't post ads, I'd be all for it.

I feel the time has come to resurrect "Battle of the Network Stars." It would be helpful to know whether these people have any talents before it's their turn to host SNL.

Plus, we could watch the chick from JAG throw knives at a blindfolded Simon Cowell. I'm getting a woody just thinking about it.

What's Your Destiny - Poll?

Wow, this is so right on:

Princess, your destiny is to be a Provider

Whether you know it or not, this is the role that is most in tune with who you are at your core. As a Provider, you have a genuine nurturing concern for the welfare of others and you're eager to serve them. You can recognize exactly what people need and your friendly, helpful, social nature makes them feel comforted. With your kind and generous heart, you are personable, talkative, and outward with your emotions, and your openness and sensitivity makes you concerned about the way others view you. Along these lines, be careful not to blame yourself when things go wrong. You cannot prevent bad things from happening, even though your tendency to be orderly with a strong sense of right and wrong may lead you to believe you can. Accept that you do what you can to take care of things and that this will get you far in the world.

Has anyone else heard the song "Camel Toe" by the likely one-hit-wonder group Fanny Pack?

"Uh huh, that's right, uh uh, oh no! Fix yourself girl, you've got a camel toe" is the chorus.

The problem is, it's got a catchy rhythm.

Sorry I'm late

Apparently we're experiencing "packet loss" and someone's coming out in the morning to look into it. Very annoying.

Anyway, the best singer on stage last night was Kimberly Locke. Hands down.

Ruben sounded best on that Carpenters song (make THAT his first single!!), but otherwise tired. Too many damn costume changes, and too many clothes in general under those hot lights.

Clay has the most enormous feet!!! It's not just the turnout--he looks like he's wearing clown shoes. I can't believe I never noticed it before.

Loved the article in the Post this morning (the SFC is a religious reader of his hometown paper), saying that Ruben and Clay have better chemistry than Kelly and Justin ever did.

Someone needs to turn Kelly Clarkson over to Stacy London and Wayne Scot Lukas--no way should she have been wearing those tight black bootcut pants on her body. She has wide hips and short legs, so should wear something long and straight and tall heels to help even out her proportions.

I like Vanessa Olivarez, but apparently she didn't look in the mirror before coming onstage. That was way too much of Julia DeMato's love handles (help!). And boy, did Kim Caldwell look fat next to Carmen!

Loved all the luhhhhhv on stage at the end of the show--you could read Randy's lips telling Ruben how much he loved him. I don't remember last year's finale being quite so warm and cuddly.

And duh--the reason the voting was so close was because the phone lines were basically maxed out.

I didn't think there was anything unbelievable in TM's distances. I am about 50 yards shorter than him with most of those clubs and I am (1) a nonathletic woman and (2) a sucky golfer with a nasty "chicken wing" swing that limits my clubhead speed.

All points I've stuck to.

TM
TM, you are fighting a losing battle against sponsor exemptions. As you know, they're are all about ratings and attracting crowds and attention to the tournaments. And with Annika it worked. People who would normally rather watch mold grow will be tuning in to the Thurs./Fri coverage and the network with the weekend rights is probably lighting candles by the dozens praying she will make the cut. Heck, I briefly considered looking for cheap airfare and practice round tickets.

As for your debate with spookyfish on whether or not she could be competitive, maybe I'm being naive but I don't think that's her objective. Last interview I heard, she expected to not make the cut. But she is underchallenged in the LPGA and wanted to take her game to another level. If there was a higher level of competition than the PGA and Tiger could get a sponsor's exemption to play -- he would certainly do so to test himself.
