Bingo. I like your style taxwonk.

That to me is an interesting question--don't the computers that churn through these things know? Like when they bitch me out for adding 2+2 and getting 3?

I've been figuring, why calculate the AMT. Just send in the return, adn get the calculation done for you, and then pay the extra, with some interest.

Worst. President. Ever. How did we survive his whining about human rights? And "malaise"? And "energy crisis"? There was no energy crisis - there was a crisis, all right but he was too timid and mousy to go over to where the oil was and take it! Thank God our President Bush has no such misgivings. President Bush understands that God meant for us to have that oil!!

Carter, as a Demorat, is doomed to an eternity in the fires of Hell, like all the rest. The sooner he accepts that, the easier it will go for him. God Bless America!! God Bless President Bush!! God Bless Tom DeLay!!

When I did my taxes manually (gasp!) some line being over some certain amount told me to go to page whatever in the instructions to see if I owed AMT. I plugged a few numbers in from my itemized deduction to do that, and, happily, never owed it. So I'm not sure how the IRS wouldn't be able to do that reasonably easily -- unless you are mischaracterizing your itemized deductions as things that aren't added back for AMT purposes.

Wanker, you are supposed to charge people who intentionally cheat a premium rate. I am assuming that you will be giving him the GA discount from the premium "deliberate tax cheater" rate.

dumbass sock, if you give $50k to charity next year, I guaranfuckingtee you will have a lower tax rate. Yeah, I know someone else already pointed this out.

I agree with taxwonk, I don't think the IRS is too sophisticated in their review. Also, I am not arguing for lying, just for utlizing the whole of the grey zone. Push the envelope.

I would rather "round up" my existing donations. Your advice is a little weak compared to taxwonk's but it sounds like he is a tax guy and you obviously are not.

I've been trying to understand whether your name signifies "Whoop-Ass Man", or whether it's "Whoo! Pass Man", or "Who? O, Pass Man", or perhaps the frisson of delight that comes with the tension between the different possibilities.

Something to think about when you pick an avatar. Carry on.

No, she is not a "tax guy." And her advice might be a little weaker than wonk's (wow -- say that three times fast!) because she's a girl, and we all know that girls are weaker.

Sure. The more senior my Senator spouse becomes, the more aggressive I am with my deductions.
If you were married to a Democrat, you'd do the opposite out of a healthy fear of Karl Rove.

Depends. What kind of bumper sticker do you have on your car?

I don't put bumper stickers on my car, out of a healthy fear that someday someone will rear-end me because they were busy reading my bumpersticker.

If I felt differently, one car would have a bumpersticker saying "KILL YOUR TELEVISION," and the other would have one saying "TELEVISE YOUR KILL."

Now, that's not a very Christianly thing to say, sweetie. You need to turn the other cheek. Forgiveness is divine.
