Dude, you have asked a huge open-ended question ("I'm planning a trip to Ireland. Anyone have recommendations?"). I did a semester there and went back a couple years ago. I don't want to bore everyone with a back and forth, so PM me, or e-mail me - colinadkins@gmail.com .

And, Galway.

so you hate that few goals are scored, yet the thing that bothers you most is the call when one is scored?

you're a tortured man.

actually that depends on the follow-up. after my marathon I stopped running for two months. I came home from work, and would think "Should I run or start drinking beer now?" then I'd think "I don't need to run, I just ran a marathon." then I drink beer and eat fatty foods.

if she decides, "I don't need to exercise, I just burst out a 45 minute 5K," then overall it was a bad decision.

so we're playing the Braves, and Chipper Jones has played a million years there- the TV trivia question "who are the 4 active players that have played at least 15 seasons for 1 team?"

the other 3 are Yankees. everyone talks about buying titles, but having 3 fixtures really paints a different picture.

Thank you. I think my point was....I'm a novice at 5K, this was my first one and I admit I'm slow. I thought I'd take an hour with how overwhelming 15 thousand runners is and how hard it was to advance. so I was pleased at 45 and had no basis to compare. was it elite marathoner time, hell no. If plf comparest thru that lens yeah it looks lame. happy I tried. I stopped training with law school and long hours at work. it's been very stressful....so thank u. and no I wasn't aware that 1/2 hour was a lame time. so now I know

I applaud your new-found ability to accept the superior knowledge of others in subjects that are not your forte.

1/2 an hour isn't (necessarily) a "lame" time -- but it's not something that someone in their 20s in "top shape" would do. It's slightly under a 10-minute mile, which is Not Impressive.

I think that's my point. when I posted initially I was pleasantly surprised I wasn't utter fail and I thought that their times were superior which they are....and now I have a new facet which includes that truly superior times would be szy 17 or 18 mins. I get it.

As for my new found ability, 4 years ago I wouldn't have been able to complete this at all I was out of shape. Now I can. I work out, I have a lot of stuff going on. it isn't important for me to be right in every area. I'm actually happier more mellow. darest I think that.

"Maybe"? That was a more egregious non-goal than either of the two the US scored that were disallowed.* The goal disallowals, combined with some of the foul/card calls, this Cup may sink FIFA's credibility to NBA-like levels. At least fouls take some judgment, but there's no excuse for not having some system in place that would have properly awarded England that goal.

*And the first Argentina scored was pretty cheap too.

Danke schon mein herr. First thing I did on the way home from watching us lose (again) to Ghana was try to get a Deutschland shirt to wear today, but the suburban NJ soccer shop closest to my house was all sold out. Plenty of England crap on the racks, though.

OK, so I'm going to this BINGO party for chicks, where each of us is supposed to bring a wrapped gift worth $20 or less, "the crazier, the better". I am terrible at these things -- any of you geniuses have any ideas?

I'm not comfortable bringing anything overtly sexual with this crowd, as I don't know anyone very well, and some of them, not at all. It would be, uh..., somewhat unfortunate for me to bring a giant butt plug or something, when everyone else brings WILD AND CRAZY SOCKS!!!

Please help!

(PS -- Do giant butt plugs go for more than $20?)

ETA: (Hi, Hank!)

Yeah.

1. No Celtic tops on the Shankill Road, no Rangers tops on the Falls.

2. Stand your round, even if they try not to let you.

3. Bring a whole lot of money.

A snuggie. Those things are gold for stupid* $20 or less gift roulettes.

*stupid describing the $20 or less gift, not the roulette. Those can be fun depending on the creativity of the pool.
