Sorry. We'll all just sit here silently until Thurgreed posts links to boobies.

True. Not Bob wishes he was someone just a little more funky.

Apples and oranges, red being wine, while white is mildly fortified grape juice.

We could debate whether right boobies are better than left boobies.

Right always seems to be better.

Red wine is better in most contexts, but white has its places. Just like beer, I'm for all kinds of different styles of wine, although I'm much less conversant in the many varieties.

I've never had that Zombie beer, but it doesn't look like the perfect one to me as it claims to be all way hopped out.

As for whether the IPA is perfect beer form, I'd say that statement is missing important information. I quite like some actual, British IPAs. I'd entertain the notion the beers in that class are near the top of beer achievement.

But what has come to be known as an IPA in the U.S. (more appropriately designated an American IPA or a Western IPA, in my view) is IMHO, better viewed as a subspecialty. Tolerable once in awhile, but too much for regular consumption.

And don't get me started on "Belgian IPA." Hey, you fucking hipster dufus, Belgians do not make IPAs.

Point of order, "hipster" and "doofus" are separate modifiers. Kramer was a "doofus" and at some point a "hipster" although more in the early 90s definition. Kramer was not a "hipster" in the current BK definition.

But a hipster is not necessarially a "doofus." One must be guilty of both failings to earn the combined title.

The person who believes that they are doing something cool by making a "Belgian IPA" is a hipster (see the reference to Belgian beer as a thing that cool people know about) and a doofus (see the bastardization of Belgian style beers via the introduction of way too much hops).

The case was self-evident for those smart enough to see it.

It's an American Pale Ale, not an IPA. It might contain a lot of hops, but it doesn't taste nearly as hoppy as many of the hop bombed beers.

And just because this country has gone hop crazy doesn't mean there aren't some places who do it right.

Calvin Trillin, who was writing about food when Anthony Bourdain and Rick Bayless were barely off their momma's tit, had a view of wine that almost exactly matches mine. He noted once how he was one of those people who were always mystified when another diner started talking about tannins and notes of oak. He then offered that in the Italian restaurants he liked the most, the waiters resolved the wine question by asking "you wan' raid or why-ite?"

I like a few particular wines, like a Montepulciano from Castello Banfi ( I can't pay more than $75 for a bottle, sorry, I just can't do it) or a really good chardonnay. But, I usually just say "red."
