A wing rotation of McGrady/Rip with Prince off the bench would be scary. No one gives McGrady credit for his defense, which is real strong. No question the Pistons become unstopable- except for the "if" on solid point guard, and one other thing.

Billups is right now playing the best ball on a team that is the best. Does the amount T-Mac improves them equal the step down to whoever they get? Chauncey is one of the best points, and I can't think of one the Pistons would trade for him. It would be a big step down. I just don't think Dumars pulls the trigger at 25-4.

And there is also the possible chemistry fucking that could come up. He took the Rasheed gamble because he had to to get there. The Pistons are there, so Joe might not want to roll the dice- even if there is no apparent possible baggage with Tracy.

But it doesn't warrent further thought because I said the other 29 teams (which would include Houston) would not make the trade.

 | I won't argue that too much.

Two things, though. 1) The Pistons are not the best team in the league. San Antonio is and I don't care what their respective records are. It's like when the Bulls cruised during the regular season and got serious in the playoffs. I don't think anyone can beat the Spurs (except maybe a healthy, Miami squad -- but I'm hoping the Payton* curse ruins them).

2) I don't like their new high-scoring style and Flip Saunders isn't exactly a playoff coach. Sure, it's great for the regular season, but defenses clamp down in the playoffs and the running will stop. To be sure, the Pistons have proven they can win at a slower pace, but will Flip have them ready? Can they win in the playoffs with this style?

*I hate Gary Payton. I want to smack him when he's chewing on that fucking gum. I hope he always remembers asking Jordan to autograph shit for him before the Finals started and hearing Jordan say over and over in his sleep, "As soon as Gary asked me for an autograph, even though it wasn't for him, I knew I had him beat...had him beat...had him beat..." |
