OTOH, it creates potential for you to insult dying children AND say something both racist and anti-immigrant. A Hank-fecta!

So you dems are against moving manufacturing jobs overseas, but all on board with bringing immigrants in to take lower pay and displace american workers? Got it. (and don't go in your dull normal "sidd speak" by bringing up immigrants taking jobs americans don't want- this is americans laid off to lower wages)

I have companies that expand overseas specifically because they can't get H1-B visas to bring in key leadership talent they need. This kind of abuse of the system kills economic growth and jobs in two ways. We have a new program in Mass. that brings in entrepreneurs who simultaneously build companies and take positions with our educational institutions - in the first year, it looks like each visa will create about two dozen jobs, because we're bringing in the senior creative types. That's how H1-Bs ought to be used.

Many of the best techies and entrepreneurs out there want to come here. We can afford to be picky on H1-Bs.

Rant over.

Typically, when I say something is "seriously fucked up," that means that I don't like it. You are an exception, but that's mostly due to your lovely wife.

It's not really a "rant" when it makes complete sense. How the fuck did Mouseland get away with this shit, when Bay Area companies can't get visas for engineers?

All my rants make sense.

Yet another way in which the bastards in LA undermine real businesses and economies.

People treated that as a crime, because it promoted gentrification -- the theory being that, if Google employees couldn't ride buses from SF to work, they would live someplace else. They wouldn't just drive cars, and they wouldn't just go gentrify another neighborhood that was closer to work. And maybe we could just require Google to build company towns (seriously, people were saying that).

The whole Google Bus thing is all about gentrification, but because this is California, people need to talk about cars and traffic and commuting instead of neighborhoods and housing.

That is hysterical.

There is, IIRC, a Playboy interview* of John Wayne from the early 1970s in which he discusses his politics a bit (the Duke was generally regarded as a hawkish Republican) - it's really interesting. Unlike President Reagan (who flipped from New Deal Democrat to, well, Ronald Reagan largely because of taxes and going to work for then-conservative General Electric to make large coin as his acting jobs slowly faded), Wayne really seemed like he thought about issues.

Anyway, carry on.

*Yes, "I only read it for the articles." Happy?

Early 70s Playboys confused. Rumor was chicks had hair, you know, down there, but Playboy never confirmed the rumor nor disproved. Until maybe 73 or 74 when the truth was revealed.

I wonder what the defense may be regarding the bikinied woman who was tackled.

She was black. In McKinney, TX, that is probable cause per se.

The best cross examinations are the ones that will never happen.

I want to see them start charging all those white folks hanging around "assisting" the police in assaulting a bunch of kids.

Black and less than immediately compliant to a [deranged, aggressive, over-reacting asshole] white cop.

That video is so strange. He's running around freaking out like there is some sort of crisis happening. Everyone else is pretty darn calm, up until the moment he starts assaulting the girl in the bikini.
