But if you had plenty of time where would you want to make sure to visit? It must be heading out of peak season in Australia and New Zealand, right?

Anyway, I clearly need a link to Less's blog.

Greece.

That would complete the fecta of Europe's most vulnerable economies. It's highly tempting, but I was there two years ago. But there are always more islands to try.

Spending the night at the airport would have sucked, though.

i've started a new religion that finds p------ holy. but we don't let anyone ever mention the name P-----. we also don't want anyone to see p------'s avatar or any of his posts. I just need to get the other mods on board.

do you like camping ? south island new zealand is amazing- and it's the kind of place where you don't want to go unless you have a month- but it is coming into winter.

I was in Vienna and the countryside last summer- one day we drove to bratislava- turns out the whole "really hot former reds fucking american guys them getting them into a little s&m" vibe was contrived BUT the prices were much cheaper that Austria. I understand all of the former eastern bloc is very inexpensive.

Yes, although rising. Poland is the cheapest of the more developed countries (i.e. not Belarus, Moldova, Albania), although I liked the Baltics better, and it is just a 1.5 hour ferry from Talinn over to Helsinki.

My facebook profile picture is me in Bratislava. In the full size version, you there is a quiet attractive waitress (who served us beers) in the background. Upon returning, certain friends and I joked that she was my secret new girlfriend. Oh how we laughed. Because it was funny.

Baltics are an interesting idea.

I liked Krakow, Zakopane and the High Tatras.

I'm starting to think Crotia might be the way to go. We drove the Dalmation coast in the late '80s (when it was indeed super cheap), but its been a long time and it might make sense to revisit.

To be honest, I don't really care what you do. I'd like to know the backstory. Did you finally bag the paralegal, and did that get you fired? Worth it?

Not much of a backstory. Shoulda left two years ago, and not doing so meant looking for a job in the weakest part of the job market. Coupled with being picky and having some money saved up from having worked at biglaw for almost 8 years has left me feeling more comfortable than is healthy with not working for a little bit.

Of course, as soon as I plan something good, that's probably when a job will come along.

You're about to ditch work for an extended period of time.

You have no kids or other ties so you can travel or do whatever else you want.

And you're making the situation sound about as exciting as a colonoscopy.

It's arguable that your good fortune is wasted on you. I'm just saying.

Ask the paralegal on a date. Take her to Bali. See what happens.

What do you have to lose?

I am concerned with the level of pleasure you take in a colonscopy. NTTAWWT.

I don't know about you, but thinking about the travel possibilities is actually fun to me. And I would like someone to tell me that India is the way to go.

If I could travel and the limitation were money rather than time, I would think about where I could go for cheap. I have heard that Iran is an interesting and safe place to go, but I don't know how expensive it is. Turkey might qualify as well.
